we're talking about building a home now, but we looked at and passed on so many homes that were great but we felt were too small for us at the time. part of this came from an idea that we needed to have extra bedrooms for family visiting a couple of times a year. but that's like building a hotel that is half vacant all but a couple of weeks out of the year.-m

I've followed Jay Shafer and the tiny house movement since he was featured on NPR, a number of years ago. It took me a decade get my stuff down to the point where I could put all things in a hatchback and happily travel across the country. It was a very painful process.
But in the end, it all worked out well, since today I'm disable and live at an independent living facility called Fellowship Square in a small studio apartment that even today I deem is really too big for me.
I fully agree with Jay's point of view. I believe economics will drive Americas back to a more sustainable life style. Back in 1950, houses were less than 1000 s/f.
As we've seen in this video, there's many techniques to better utilize space. Living a minimalist style means more options and the ability to better manage life when you're handed a curve. Choose quality over quantity, that's I buy TB products.Last edited by PM4HIRE; 11-07-2009, 06:02 PM.Tom Welch > Mesa, Arizona, USA
