anyone here using the scottevest travel vest and their other garments?

I have bought several of their products but have been burned in the past with inferior quality - I am informed that they have improved since then, however their women's line still leaves much to be desired

I have a Tropical Jacket, and a Ultimate Microfleece Hoodie.

The Tropical Jacket is nice, lightweight, folds-up very compactly. But that's all I use it as; some of the pockets are useful, but most I don't use.

The Ultimate Microfleece Hoodie is a dream. One of the most comfortable garments I own. I bought it on a whim (and on tremendous discount) despite not considering myself a "hoodie" type of person. But I'm pleased with it.

Quality is indeed a little rough - loose threads on seams, cheap zippers and so on.

I have used ScottEVest products since they first came out. I agree with others that the quality of the garments leave much to be desired. The manufacturing can be a bit rough and some of the materials, especially the cotton/nylon blend, are easily damaged and fade quickly. Their clothing works as advertised, but does not last long with daily use.

yeah, i know of that rolf guy. i think it's silly to travel without any bag. also, i just got my scottevest garments, i have not tested them yet, i gotta say that some stuff do look cheaply made i.e. : made in china such as the clip for the key and the micro cloth for your glasses. all in all, the vest does look very nice, time will tell how the clothes will hold up after extensive use by moi. scott should have used plastic clips like tom and i know that scott is going to be using plastic ones in newer models of jackets. btw, scottevest has a new product out, more of a winter jacket. a similar non insulated jacket will be out later. i think that i will just stick with the vests, not going to bother with larger winter jackets. don't really care for their shirts and pants. i hate pants with cargo pockets anyways. i am going to rip out his plastic key chain thingy and replace it proudly with a tom binh key chain. adios.

I agree that they have a loose thread problem, but I've only had one zipper issue in about 7 years of using their stuff (the zipper on a pair of pants broke).

Other than the zipper problem and the time one of the key holders broke, my (too many) items still work perfectly.

Here's my horror story:

When you spend over $450 USD on a leather jacket, you kind of expect the glue used to hold the pockets together to not get everywhere...

I bought a scottevest a couple of years back when I was flying Ryan Air and wanted to be sure I got on board without hassling over whether my Western Flyer was too heavy. Got one for my husband, too.

I frankly wouldn't do it again. Fit and finish are, as has been commented on, kind of sloppy. The women's vest appears to be just a smaller version of the men's vest--so the small was too small to zip up but the medium is too big for me everywhere except across the chest. (Note to Scottevest--women are shaped diffferently from men. You might want to consider that in your clothing cut.) There were lots and lots of pockets, but no easy way to remember what was put where. I know, there are cards in each pocket with a suggested use, but that doesn't help much when you're out and about wondering where among the 20 pockets or so you stashed your chapstick or your Ipod or whatever.

The idea behind the product is a good one, but execution leaves something to be desired. It stays home these days, so it will probably last forever, but in this case, that's not a good thing...
