LunchBots question

One useful policy I've found in exploring and participating in these TB forums: never cease to be amazed at what you learn here.

Case in point: new product discoveries, such as the LunchBots micro-lunchbox. I'm glad I learned about it here. (And this is a link to a video about the CoPilot carrying a LunchBots.)

Discovering the LunchBots raises questions:

1: If I understand the product literature on the LunchBots web-site correctly, this little vessels are made for dry foods. You can't carry anything like cottage cheese and peaches in them. Is this correct?

2: If the above is correct, are there any high-quality micro-lunch containers like this that can serve as vessels for moist foods, such as cottage cheese and peaches?

3: Has anyone here ever used a LunchBots vessel to carry food, and used something like wax paper or SaranWrap to seal the lid?

4: Do you ever carry any table service with you, and in what do you carry a fork or knife or spoon?

For years, I've used old-fashioned Igloo-style lunchboxes for work, volunteer trail work bees, and picnics, but I'd like to learn more about this new breed of lunchbox.

i've carried fruit like strawberries in lunchbots, and that's done fine. but i wouldn't put a soup or anything with gravy in there.

i've heard good things about goodbyn lunch boxes - they are made in the usa, free of BPA and phalates, 100% recyclable, and designed to hold wet stuff. i'm contemplating getting one of these.

i've been using glass lock containers for rice and lentils - usually no leaks, unless the lentils are very liquid. i like that at least the bottom is made from glass.

i have a titanium spork that i carry in my bag. rinse before and after use and come back and wash at home in the dishwasher or with dish soap and a sponge - it works great.

I sent my inquiry to LunchBots, and received the following reply:

Thank you for your interest in LunchBots!

Our products are not water tight, so it they are going to be tossed around we recommend dry foods only.

I’m not aware of anyone that has used that method to seal the lid. I will try it myself and see what happens.
I do carry utensils, sometimes I will put them in my LunchBots along with the food (on top of the sandwich, on the side, etc.), other times I toss them in my bag rolled inside a cloth napkin with a rubber band to hold it all together.

There's also Laptop Lunchboxes. I believe the inner containers are leak-free, and have a similar slim profile to the LunchBots.

I have several Lunchbots and, like Maverick, have carried "damp" food like fruit in them without a problem. I haven't really used them to carry anything truly wet. Wrapping them with plastic or foil to keep the wet in would seem counter-intuitive to their "sustainability" factor. However, that's not why I use them for my work lunch. I'm not sustainable either, as I typically make my sandwiches on the weekend and wrap them in foil, in the morning the foil-wrapped sandwich goes in a Lunchbot along with some slices of sweet pepper or fruit, and then into a Lands' End insulated, soft, "lunchbox" with an icepack. The Lunchbot keeps the condensation that occurs from the ice pack use from making my sandwich all soggy before noon. I also occasionally use a smaller Lunchbot for crackers or dry cereal to eat as a snack, especially for road trips. I'm going to have to check out their new line of sealed and insulated containers - thanks for the links.
