need a case for iPad2 - who has one that they love?

I just received an iPad2 as an early Christmas gift, and now I'm shopping for a case! I'd like to have a case that covers it for some drop protection, as well as making it a bit easier to hold on to. Looks lovely w/out the case, but doesn't feel that way in my slippery hands!

I don't like the folios that don't hold tightly on to the iPad, I want it to feel very safe and like I can wheel around with it on my lap and not worry about it slipping out of the case & breaking.

I'm reading reviews on ilounge.com, and looking at links that people have included in various threads here.

    Pad and Quill

I have a Pad and Quill case for my iPhone 4 and they also make cases for iPads. Gorgeous Italian leather and birch wood. I've dropped my iPhone with this case on it and it survived just fine (stayed in the case). If, and when, I ever get an iPad or MacBook Air, it is the case that I would get without hesitation: Case for iPad 2 by PQ | The Octavo

Pad & Quill actually make 3 different covers for the iPad2: the Contega, Octavo, and College edition. I've attached random stock pics from their website.

Interesting! Thank you! I'm going back and forth between one of these nice "book-like" covers (like Pad & Quill or the Dodo) and something like the Canvas cover from Switch Easy. Or, what I refer to as the "rubber buggy baby bumper" type of case. All have features that I like. Too bad they're expensive or I'd get one of each!

You could keep an eye out on eBay - I just scored a beautiful Portenzo case (slightly used) for about 33% of the cost of a new one. If you're patient, you'll score!

I am using a Scosche folio p2 - very similar to the Canvas from Switcheasy but does not use a polycarbonate base to hold the iPad. They also have a variation which uses a magnet to activate the ipad when you open the case - if you like that feature. I feel comfortable putting the ipad in my bag with no additional protection. I (fortunately) have not dropped the ipad in the case and so cannot address its dropability! Both Switcheasy and Scosche make high quality products.

I have a "Lavish" from Cygnett (in purple) which I got after destroying our first ipad when I took a spill on the step into my house.. (no it wasn't in a Tom Bihn bag at the time .... )

It protects all the edges and holds the ipad quite firmly - converts to a stand too.

I use a GelaSkin (GelaSkins | iPad Skins, iPhone Skins, iPod Skins, Laptop Skins, Gaming Skins, Custom Skins, Giclee Prints and more...) on the back of my iPad, which improves the slip-resistance a bit and adds a little individual character, with an Apple SmartCover on the front. This was the "quick and easy" solution I went with when the iPad2 first came out and there weren't a whole lot of options yet. I thought I'd get a "better" case later, but this combination has worked well for my needs and I've saved my money and stuck with it. When I'm putting it in my messenger bag, I use a Tom Bihn Cache; however, it's the older version, so it's actually to large. I ordered it before they switched to the smaller, better fitting version.

On my iPad2 I've been using a red leather smart cover coupled with a DODOcase BOOKback. Like the combination a lot, but it doesn't offer ANY drop-protection or side protection at all (as my iPad will show ... oops!)

I really am looking to get a Twelvesouth BookBook - I have their case for my iPhone and absolutely love it.

If I had the money to spare ... I'd have a McManus iPad2 Leather Case(formerly Temple Bags)

With the rumors of an iPad 3 coming out this spring, though, I'm holding off on replacing my current setup just in case compatablities change.

If Santa brings me an iPad2, I will be carrying it in one of these: Flowfold — iPad Sleeves

I have one of their wallets and LOVE it. Tought as nails and I like the style. I will likely put a smart cover on it first.

I've been using a Portenzo case in the Composition style since April and it's been great. I decided I needed a change and ordered a Zum SC Ultimate to use with the Apple Smart Cover.
