    Recommendations for Ipod Battery Backup

    That's Ipad Mini NOT Ipod!

I'll be making a long trip from SEA to Quito in 6 weeks and taking my Ipad Mini. I figure that I need juice for 12 hours. I'm can't count on recharging in Houston. Last time I was there, the outlets were all shot at the recharging stations. They either wouldn't hold a plug no matter what you did or the outlet had no juice. So I'm thinking ahead. Recommendations would be greatly appreciated for a battery backup.

I have been using the Adata dashdrive air ae400 for the last month or so with my iPad mini and I am quite happy with it. It has a 5000 mAh battery so it effectively doubles the life of the iPad mini. It is a bit bulky but pretty light, supports USB harddrives and SD cards for wireless media streaming. It isn't without it's quirks, the battery drains itself in storage and the wireless streaming can be finicky at times but that is true of every external battery and wireless streaming device I have seen so far.

I just used it on a flight from NYC-Houston-Calgary and after the 7-8 hours flying plus casually checking emails and surfing the web waiting for boarding I still had a fully charged battery on the iPad mini and some juice left on the Adata.

Thanks, Miking. I'll check into it.

We use a Mophie Powerstation for backup battery. I don't know the time it'll give you, though.

The Mophie Juicepack Powerstation will give you at least one full recharge for an ipad (any size).

I really like Anker products. I have their Astro 3E (10,000 mAh) and it is wonderful. They do make smaller sizes too. They have great wall chargers too, with multiple high-powered ports.

Thanks bltkmt for pointing this brand out, I just ordered two of their 5 port wall chargers. One for the road and one for the bedroom along with a couple longer C7 iec cords. My gadget power strip was beginning to look like the bad examples from fire prevention week. The battery packs look good too!
