I love taco trucks, but haven't really ever tried Korean food. My favorite taqueria in the whole world just closed, and I'm pretty sad about it. Give me a good salsa bar and lots of jalapenos and I'm set.
Have a question? @Darcy (to make sure I see it)

Darcy: you live in a town with some great Korean food, even if teriyaki and pho are more visible. I have eaten some delicious Korean at restaurants the name of which I can't recall now, or I'd recommend them. I don't know if you're vegetarian or not; if not, you might enjoy finding a place with Korean BBQ. If so, it's a country with a big Buddhist population (and meat, historically, is expensive while Korea -- *only* historically -- has been poor), so there are lots of good veggie options.

I am not vegetarian, but live in a vegetarian household. When I eat outside the house, I frequently seek meat, and Korean food is perhaps my favorite in the world. I love Bi Bim Bap, and really, it's hard to go wrong with that -- a bowl of rice with various bits strewn on top (usually incl. beef, but that can be let off and subbed for more veggies), conventionally also a soft-fried egg, with potent hot sauce on the side. Mash all that together, and eat with a spoon. Drink with barley tea (Bori Cha), bliss ensues.

Even better, IMO: Dol Sot Bi Bim Bap, which is the same stuff as above, but served in a hot stone bowl; as you eat, the dish keeps the whole thing hot, and the rice continues to cook and carmelized, and you scrape off bits of delicious, browned, chewy rice as you go.

Another one I love: jha-jhang myun, sometimes called "Korean spaghetti."

Note: one of the best things about Korean food is that it typically comes with many side dishes, called banchan. Kimchi of various sorts, bean sprouts, tofu bits ... a happy meal could be made of these things alone.

I'm vegetarian (former vegan) - any recommendations for places near-ish SoDo for vegetarian Korean food? I don't really eat eggs either, so that might make it tough...but it's worth a try.

          Darcy:

I'm not sure, but after another few weeks away soon, I'll try to seek some

I'm behind on my intake of Korean, need to make up for lost time.
