    Spirit Airlines and tri-star

How strict are Spirit airlines with free "personal items" vs charging for a carry-on?

Will they allow tri-star as a personal item and allow it free? Its slight above their "personal item" domensions.

I flew Spirit a few months ago (ORD to LAX) and had my TS and my Synapse 19. I bought the ticket on Hotwire and had no idea about their "we're going to charge you for everything" policy. The gate attendant eyed me and asked if I was sure I could fit both items under the seat in front of me. I was like, "uh, sure." I had an aisle seat and, as it turned out, I did have to stuff both bags in front of me. Both fit fine, but neither were over-packed. I'd say if you have a not-too-full TS as your only item, you should be fine.

If it helps, at LAX they didn't question me at all.

i have flown spirit with a tr-star. if fit easily into the spirit sizer at laguardia and i was not questioned at the gate.

however, it seems possible that a tri star that was stuffed to 99.99% capacity, and i mean so stuffed it was basically rigid, could be a tiny bit too tall for the sizer. but even then i think it could be mushed to fit, and only the most stringent enforcer, having a really bad day, would bother to call you out.

i understand the trepidation spirit can cause with their threats of $100 dollar gate fees, but with a tri star that isnt stuffed by hercules, you are good to go.
