On being a Tom Bihn missionary

I've had my SmartAlec (with Freudian Slip, Monolith and Snake Charmer) and Aeronaut (with packing cube) for quite some time now. They travel with me everywhere I go, and given that I'm on the road 2-3 weeks a month on average, that's a lot of locations. This past week I was in Little Rock, Arkansas with a colleague, and when we were putting our luggage in the car's trunk together, she was oohing and aahing over my Tom Bihn bags. She had noticed the Aeronaut first, and the SmartAlec second. The more I raved about the quality, workmanship and design, the more interested she became. I think I had made a convert by the end of the trip, and I have a sneaky hunch she's going to be ordering an Aeronaut for herself sometime soon. It's not the first time this has happened to me.

I'm wondering how frequently this happens to the loyal Tom Bihn community out there. How often do you find yourself being a sales person for the cause? The more I think about it, the more I realize that I don't rave this way for anything else I own, pleading with people to follow my lead and shop HERE.
It's worth considering that your entire purpose in life could be to serve as a warning to others.

Now granted, I do work here, but I was at a party a few weekends ago and ended up talking to someone about my Imago because he complemented me on it and has since purchased one of his own. It happens everywhere I go too. It crazy how much the bags stand out. Or maybe it's because Tom Bihn owners themselves are so cool. Everybody wants to be us.

Everywhere I go, someone comments on either the EB or the Aeronaut and I make sure to rave about the quality and customer service. Not sure how many actual sales have resulted, but I'm definitely selling it!

I get this a lot too. Being bag-centric and having a lot of bags on hand I am asked for recommendations by a large, diverse group of tech minded folks. A few of my friends now sport and love empire builders, cafe bags and even the odd Imago here and there. People do notice the Super Ego and Cafe bags, there is just something about a TB bag that is a bit different than all the Dell supplied laptop bags walking through Downtown. In all honesty I have recommended Chrome bags to friends that are cycle motivated, they ride better than any other bag I have tried.

I believe Tom Bihn owners themselves are just too cool.

End-user evangelism is the heart and soul of many a success story. I remember getting the Apple Mac 128K when it first came out. I wrote a review for my boss at the time and couldn't stop talking about how revolutionary it was... I still do that now with Apple products! It's proof positive that a company, its people and products are in the top tier. I just hope Tom still rememembers us when he becomes rich and famous ;)
