the medium cafe bag at sandy run on the occoquan river

we went down to sandy run on the occoquan river to watch my niece row.

we brought along our navy / cayenne medium cafe bag.

inside was a 1 liter sigg water bottle, a 27 oz klean kanteen water bottle, a banana, two cut apples, two granola bars, a sandwich we shared with a goose, and a leica d-lux 4.

oh, and my son's rain jacket was tucked inside the flap.

we enjoyed a nice windy, hilly hike from the parking area down to the river. the return was a bit of a challenge for my son, and i gave in and agreed to take the shuttle service back to the parking lot since we needed to get to his soccer class.

it was a beautiful morning to be out at the river!

What was in your shared sandwich besides a goose?

lol! the goose wasn't in the sandwich. the sandwich was in the goose! :)

it was actually just a couple of slices of bread. unlike most children who ask to have the crust of the bread cut off and like eating the bread itself, my son likes eating the crust and not the bread (the exception is if i put strawberry jam inside the sandwich). we weren't sure if we were going to see any birds, but we brought some bread just in case. there were no ducks and just one goose. and he enjoyed the bread :).
