Absolute Strap

I purchased an Imago bag with the Absolute strap last weekend and I just wanted to say......if you are wondering if the strap is worth the extra money, it is well worth every cent!

I get neck and shoulder problems if my bag is too heavy - not that that stops me from carrying too much when doing errands! I loaded my new bag up to its volume capacity with books, then walked about a block to the library, wearing the bag across my body. I barely knew that I was carrying all that weight. The strap is like have a little pneumatic suspension system on the bag!

For some more revealing facts about the Absolute Strap see the discussion and links in this forum post. I use the Absolute Strap with the ID Bag, Ristretto, and all my travel bags (Western Flyer, Aeronaut, and Tri-Star). I use the Q-AM strap with one of my Imagos. If I were carrying more weight in the Imago I would shift to the Absolute strap, but the Quick-Adjust Messenger strap gives some added flexibility in how I carry the bag, while still doing a good job of distributing the weight across the strap. I can switch out the Absolute Strap from my Ristretto, which has the same width strap, if I want to use this with the Imago.

I would be LOST w/o my Absolute Strap. In fact I even use it as a neck strap on my DSLR's if I am going to be toting around a longer heavy lens on the body. Otherwise I use it on any messenger style bag I use.

My favorite thing is the strap really seems to take some of the weight. It might be because it is a bit "springy".

One more voice in the chorus. I carry my Imago almost every day as a general work bag, and with its original strap sometimes found that my load--computer, two or three books, and sundries--was a bit heavy. So, on the spur of the moment this weekend, I headed to the Tom Bihn showroom to pick up an extra absolute strap for it. What a difference it makes! I should have known, since I use an absolute strap with my Tristar and Western Flyer bags, but somehow I 'forgot' when it came to my Imago.

What a boon to those of us that often carry heavy stuff!
