    hi north boy,

if i'm not mistaken, the ego comes with a 1 1/2" webbing waist strap, while the aeronaut uses a 1" webbing waist strap.

also, if you have an aeronaut that came out before the waist strap option was added for the aeronaut, you will need an aeronaut waist strap kit which allows you to swap out the lower, adjustable part of the shoulder straps, and also includes the waist strap that attaches via gatekeeper clips.

if you have an aeronaut that was made after the waist strap option was added, you should be able to just use a 1" webbing waist strap that attaches via gatekeeper clips from another bag. i didn't see a link for ordering just the 1" webbing waist strap - i may be overlooking it. darcy may be able to help with how the 1" webbing waist strap can be ordered.

also, darcy, can you just confirm that the above information is correct? :)

    thanks!

    Aeronaut with waist strap

I've used my Aeronaut on a few trips before, but today, I love it even more.

I flew on a rather small plane today (Embraer 145). I was the only person allowed to take their carry on piece onto the plane. Everyone else had to gate check their carry ons (including a few duffel type bags). The Aeronaut fit perfectly and I had it rather packed (I had books in both end sections and a laptop in the middle, so it wasn't really flexible).

The waist strap made it so much easier to carry the bag. I had a one mile walk home from the train station and was able to get most of the bag's weight on my hips.

My one complaint is that there was no way to keep my Swift on my shoulder. It just slid right off the Aeronaut's strap, so I had to carry it. I may try to place a hook or velcro loop on the shoulder strap so I can get it to stay.

For those who are curious.. the softcell for a 13 inch macbook does fit in a Swift and you can close it rather easily if you don't overstuff the Swift with too much yarn.
