Yarn Stuff Sack love

Hi folks! I'm actually new to Tom Bihn and just placed my first order last week. I wanted to start out small and see how I liked the products, and I've been pretty much blown away. My first purchase was a clear organizer wallet and a yarn stuff sack. I wanted to share a picture of the contents of my sack:



From left, a copy of the shawl pattern I'm working on, the shawl itself, two balls of yarn, and a Knit Kit (a little combination of knitting tools put together in one little contraption).

This has saved so much space in my purse. I just plop it down in the bottom and it's good to go. Eventually I'm replacing my purse with one of the café bags, and it'll fit perfectly in there as well. I've also been bragging about Tom Bihn to whomever will stand to listen to me. I also want to say after lurking on the forums for three months that you lot have been a very bad influence on me and I forsee more purchases in the near future. ;)

And...the best part, if you have a bigger project you can use the Large Yarn Stuff Sack then if you ever get two projects started or start collecting yarn, the Swift is the perfect needle art bag (especially in environmentally sustaining Cork)

Where did you get the knit kit? I'm thinking grandma may need one for christmas!

I got it at my local yarn store, Katy. It was behind the counter and I was impressed with it. It's been a fantastic little kit and worked really well for all the plane rides I've done lately, but I will warn you that the included stitch counters are very flimsy and they split after a couple months of use on the shawl in the picture. I also tucked a yarn needle in the small latched compartment and it fits perfectly. The one drawback is that the included crochet hook is a bit hard to snap and unsnap in its place. So, if your grandma has questionable arm strength, she may not be able to use it easily. You can see more on the product here.

backpack, I've already asked my fiancé for a Swift for Christmas. If he doesn't get me one, I'm breaking down and getting one myself!

She isn't very strong. I'm sure she would prefer to use her own crochet hooks (she has like 5454191984 billion of them) but it would be nice for her to have all of her other things in one place so she doesn't have to search for them.

Using the yarn stuff sack in the cafe bag is great, too. Since it clips in, it can sort of float over the rest of the stuff in the bag, which especially nice if you don't want delicate knitting items getting crushed at the bottom of the bag.

I just saw this little notions kit the other day (http://www.nancysknitknacks.com/perfect_notion_case.htm). Might be a better fit for your grandma. I haven't seen it in person, though, so I can't vouch for the quality.

Katy, why not give Grandma a Kit? It's big enough to hold the notions, and it's nicer than plastic.

She has a Cork Swift and Pen and Pencil size Clear Organizer Pouch, she loves them both. If I bought her more pouches I would start "borrowing" them... :) I'm not sure how often she is going to knit now but I know she enjoys it. A Kit sounds like a good idea. She just got some new Stuff Sacks the other day and was really excited.
