Synapse in Steel Dyneema / Solar Dyneema :-D

It's here - the new Steel Dyneema / Solar Dyneema Synapse! My initial impression is that this is simply a FABULOUS bag. I'll post a review in the next week or so, but in the meantime, enjoy!!

Notmensa: looks great. let me know how the bag in Dyneema feels when not too full--does it flop over etc? I love the Dyneema, but not sure if it will be more floppy than the ballistic or cordura. This looks great! I love my Smart Alec; but may get this later on for quick runs.

Hi Shiva,

The Dyneema Synapse is not floppy at all - in fact it holds it's shape very well. I haven't got a Cordura bag for comparison, but there is some Cordura in the Synapse (side panels on the back) and the Dyneema fabric is certainly stiffer and has more structure.

The front of the bag is mostly 2 layers of Dyneema fabric - steel outside, solar lining - except for the lowest horizontal pocket which has no lining. The zippers plus the internal compartments / panelling also help shape the bag.

I've also noticed that the foam back pad doesn't flop, or even really flex when the bag is empty - the Dyneema fabric is too light to pull it out of shape. In the last photo above, the Synapse was resting against a bottle and stayed upright easily. Impressive!

How much does the dyneema synapse compress down? I'm interested in it as a daypack to pack flat inside a tri-star and am wondering if it would use up a whole compartment on it's own or whether it compresses flat enough to pack other stuff on top.

I ended up pinching my husband's Indigo Synapse and gave him the Navy one, and the Kelly is our travelling backpack. It's working well for this purpose.

Two photos of the Synapse in action!

These were taken by my hubby at Circular Quay / Sydney Opera House late last week. The first is looking over the water at the 'Rhapsody of the Seas', which was docked at the Overseas Passenger Terminal. The second is an arty one of the Synapse admiring the Sydney Opera House .. or maybe the other way 'round. :-)
