      hi shiva,

the garment sleeve is 21" x 13", and fits in the aeronaut, which is 22" x 14". the western flyer is 18" x 12".

Maverick you sly fox. That is impressive. I have done it without the garment sleeve using the large Western Flyer packing cube in the Aeronaut, which I posted a while back. The key is to undo the back wall snaps for the side dividers and to load the center compartment first. I love your trick of turning the cube inside out for the shoes to go in. I remember being amazed at the little extra pockets of space I kept finding, particularly in the center compartment. Now if only we didn't have to go outside the "family" for a garment sleeve....

that's great! -- so the Western Flyer packing cube with suit inside should fit in the western flyer, also, for shiva's needs?

Well that's good I checked back... Was just looking at the EC garment sleeve on Amazon but I don't need right away. I did want to ask about jacket size. I wear a 44 and sometimes have difficulty fitting it into sleeves. I assume Tom's will have some magical properties but I was curious what size jacket you wore as a reference as to whether mine will work....

I also didn't see a tie. My tie did very well when I bundle wrapped it pressed inside two pairs of pants on the outside of my bundle. Any trouble in the garment sleeves with the tighter wrap or no?

              hi keb,

that was a size 44 jacket that you saw in the video.

sorry, i left out the tie. i haven't worn a tie in years :). but i think your method of accommodating a tie would work very well.

can you clarify what you mean when you say tighter wrap? thanks!

I don't see why not, with the one caveat that I have never actually packed a suit in the large WF packing cube in the Western Flyer, only in the Aeronaut. The only times I have needed the nice clothes I have brought the Aeronaut anyway. The only concern I would have is my only complaint about my WF, and that is that a really full large WF packing cube can't really fit into the back compartment because the backpack strap anchors in the corners prevent the back wall corners from giving enough to accomodate the full packing cube.

When I pack clothes in a garment sleeve they are folded on themselves. When I pack them in the sleeve I create a bundle and then wrap the pants (or the jacket) around other clothes and actually roll a pair of shorts or a T-shirt and place them at the inside of the turn, so to speak, so there are no actual direct folds... Of course, everything on the inside is folded. 6 of one, half dozen of the other I am guessing...

                    Wow! Impressive video.

                    A few questions about it:

1: Were you using the Eagle Creek Pack-It Garment Sleeve (Item EC-40462)?

2: How easy is it to unpack/get the wrinkles out of the suit once you get to the hotel?

3: What kind of wooden shoe trees were you using in that video?

4: Do you think you still had room for items in the Aeronaut's zip-flap over the main compartment? Could you have put your 3-1-1 Clear Organizer Cube in there?

                    Thanks for the informative video.

Just posting a follow-up question about this subject: has anyone been packing a suit the way that Maverick demonstrated in his excellent video? If so, what has been your experience?

I did for a while when travelling to Canada in the winter months. Rather than a suit, I'd pack a blazer and a couple of pairs of wool trousers in the Eagle Creek garment sleeve. That certainly fit into my Aeronaut, but I found that the side compartments lost about 1/4 of their effective volume. No space for size 11 1/2 Baffin boots in the sides. J/K No need for that in downtown Calgary ;-) But I did switch to a different jacket folding technique and discarded the use of the EC garment sleeve for all but the most formal situations (taking my Bonnie Prince Charlie jacket, waistcoat and kilt to weddings, for example).
