Great picture, maverick, especially since we just received a request for pictures of people wearing the Ristretto in this thread. So can I state for "calibration" purposes that you're 5'8'' tall? (You wouldn't happen to have an easy link to a picture of you wearing a regular sized Ristretto, would you? I can find lots of photos of you carrying Cafe bags. Maybe we can point to one of you carrying the large cafe bag -- the Ristretto is just a little longer and narrower.)

          Hi Katy,

Yes, for more details on the color matching, see this post from the "you know you're a loyal tom bihn customer when…" thread. I suspect that the regular Ristretto in the next picture will be plum/wasabi -- also color coordinated with the shirt.

I have a question about the Ristretto, but it also applies to all of Bihn's smaller shoulder bags:

If you're wearing a Ristretto or Cafe Bag and using the shoulder strap only (no waist strap) and you're carrying a load in the bag, do you have to watch the bag when bending over? Does it shift and swing out of control easily? If it can, how do you stop it?

I have Large and Small Cafe bags and that has never been a problem if the bag is carried cross body.

They both stay close to the body, it is a matter of adjusting the strap to one's height.

When I am at the airport, doing all the stuff that need to be done to get on a plane with a snack and extra drink at hand, the Large Cafe bag is never in the way.

When I am pushing around a shopping cart for the monthly fill up of the pantry, the Small Cafe bag is not in the way, even thought it is on me all the time.
Of course, there too, I have to bend, reach up, get in stuck in the freezers doors or stretch out to reach things in the flat freezers.

I understand your concern perfectly because many of the bags I had to deal with before getting my wonderful Cafe Bags had that very same problem.
Some were in the way when I had to do something or others, securely not in a way, it was not easy to reach into them when it was time to catch the bus or some other mode of transportation.

Maverick has tons of pictures with the Cafe Bags in various situation, including little walks and big trips.

Those beautiful pictures show the versatility of the Cafe Bags much better than I could just by writing.

Let's say you're not an iPad or netbook owner. What other items can a Ristretto carry? How useful would it be as a camera or camcorder bag? I recall a different thread in which someone used a padded insert in a different Bihn bag to make a camera bag. I was just wondering if that would work with a Ristretto.

Also: is a Ristretto large enough to use as a lunch sack? Would you take it on a short hike?

How would you compare a Ristretto to Bihn's Cafe Bags?
