    Co-Pilot as an Artist's Bag

I recently bought a Co-Pilot as a present for my partner, who is an artist and writer. After seeing the Co-Pilot at the Washington DC meet-up, I thought it would make a great bag for her to use when drawing or making watercolors in "the field". The water bottle compartment would be ideal for holding water for making watercolors, it was the right size for sketchbooks and watercolor blocks, and the structure of the bag would allow it to make equipment easy to access while sketching or painting.

Yesterday she tried it out at the Aquarium. Some comments:
    • "I love the zippers. Fun to watch them close up like magic." (we think the YKK zippers afford more protection to the art work within the Co-Pilot)
    • "I could draw without even being aware that I had a bag on my shoulder" (she draws while standing)
    • "Lots of compartments, and still more space remaining. The pouch on the back is great for temporarily slipping in the sketchbook as I walk from place to place, or sharpen the pencil."

And here are some pictures. The first shows the pencils in the right front compartment ready for use. The second demonstrates how the sketchbook slips into the back compartment. The third shows all the stuff in the Co-Pilot, including two sketchbooks, one Moleskine notebook, a box of Derwent Colored Pencils, pencil sharpener, mirror (used to examine drawings in mirror image), eyeglasses, wallet, etc. The last one shows some of the sketches made with the help of the Co-Pilot.

        Nice post and pictures.

Doodler's Anonymous is one of my favorite sites. I bet some of those doodling artists would love the Co-Pilot too.
