Addax, not just for bike commuters

Here are some brief thoughts on the Addax 26. I received this bag from TB free of charge, my opinions are my own. (Edited to add the 26, I forgot to clarify that!)

When I first opened the box I thought I had gotten another Cambiata. They’re both quite square with a vertical side pocket. I like the square shape of these bags. It really opens up the interior space and is very practical for things like folders, books, etc.

I’m going to keep my writing short this time and add to this post once it is established. (I struggle with the photo uploader so I’m giving myself time to add them in) Questions welcome! I will have plenty of time to take extra pics and do comparisons tomorrow in the daylight (it is well into the evening here now).

TL;DR: If 26L is the right size for your trip, I would be hard pressed to find a better layout for one-bag travel. The two front pockets and two side pockets can handle small everyday essentials, snacks and a drink, while the large interior and tech pockets can manage the rest. With all of my daily items in the Addax, I can still fit in two PCSBs and a couple of small pouches for toiletries and tech. The 1.5” waist strap makes me feel quite confident that I could take this on a trip even if it was quite heavy and I was walking 2 miles home from the train station (as I did with a different bag on my last trip). This wouldn’t be my choice for day-to-day unless your day-to-day would benefit specifically from a very tall roll top bag. Like cyclists, for example, or if you ever have occasion to carry home a bundle of willow (see pic).

Ok, let’s look at the pockets.

AddaxThere is. smaller top pocket and a larger bottom pocket. The zippered vertical side pocket is very like the side pocket on the Cambiata, and the water bottle pocket can hold something much taller than my little 12oz Contigo.

    Top Pocket
    Addax top pocket empty
    Addax front pockets full

The zippered Side Pocket doesn’t have to hold tall things, can also hold small things.

    Addax side pocket

Internal laptop and also tablet pockets. Laptop is 13” and fits with room to spare. Tablet is 11” and is sitting horizontally bit would fit better vertically.

    Addax laptop and tablet pocket
There are slip pockets made from mesh in the outer top pocket and also inside the bag across from the laptop pocket.
    Addax internal slip pockets

Medium Cafe Bag Freudian Slip (slightly modified to have fewer pen pockets) fits in the tablet pocket as pictured below, and also in and the laptop pocket of course. I prefer it in the laptop pocket because you can also access it from the side external zipper, which is quite handy since this bag is TAAAAALL.

    Freudian slip in Addax
    Freudian slip from external zip

Hi Cristina thanks for the great review and pics! The one with the willow bundle is my favorite as it shows how to use a roll-top properly ;)

Thank you 🤣 I am just wondering what else I can carry in this way! Golf clubs? Field hockey sticks? Baseball bats?

How about small swim fins and mini kick boards? (We actually had some requests for that)

moriond and Chicagoan fantastic questions. Kids’ swimming accessories would fit in no trouble. I am going to the sports shop in the next week or two and I will be able to check adult sizes as well. As for the baguettes, oh at least enough for over a hundred slices of garlic bread! I will check the height of our local baguettes tomorrow morning when I’m grabbing some last minute Thanksgiving stuff to see if they would have to stick out or if they could be protected from the rain. No one wants a soggy baguette.
