Hi everyone. Very excited this morning because I was hoping the UPS man was coming. No meetings today just, perhaps euphemistically, 'working from home'! No phone call to ask where my house is ... he must have worked it out now - at last! Almost 12 o'clock, he must be coming on Monday ... oh well I can wait ... I'm sure I can ... can't I?
5 to 12, is that a van outside? It is! It is! Duty to pay ... UPS had said it would be £27.88, but he only wanted £21.33 - go figure! These things just seem to be totally random.
"Put it on the table, please". Knife? Grab my Skean Dubh. Slit the tapes. I know where they are now. One, two, three! Open the lid. There it is! Magnificent!! A steel/steel Aeronaut, more small and medium clear pouches (in solar and violet dyneema) and, a new one on me, a large clear pouch in Iberian Dyneema (its huge!), a clear 'cube' for liquids, a cork Organiser wallet (how cool is cork?) and a luggage label - thank you Katy :) - oh, and I almost forgot, two packs of zipper pulls.
I'm like a child at Christmas! If I was excited enough by my FOT pouch yesterday, you can just imagine today!!!
The thing I was really pleased about (again) was the speed. I ordered my bag on Monday at a bit after 7p.m. UK time (11a.m. Seattle time). UPS collected it about 1a.m. UK time Tuesday. Thursday morning it arrived at customs in England and by 12 the following day it had made it to my backwater in rural Scotland. $40 seems a lot for delivery, but, in truth its great value for money. Mind you, had I ordered the three bags together I'd have saved $65-$80. But, who wants to buy three bags at once for $6 or 700 from a company you only know from YouTube? Which reminds me of something else. If it hadn't been for Maverick's outstanding videos, I would not be the poor, but happy man I am today! I don't believe he's on commission, but I really hope he feels appreciated!
I spent the afternoon putting on zipper pulls. Anyone who has seen any of my videos will know that I have very dodgy hands (i'm an incomplete Quadraplegic, for those who know what that means) My right hand is 80-90% paralysed and my left 50-60%, so fiddling with these pulls is frustrating and takes ages, but, at least to my sad little mind, quite satisfying. That's 9 on the Aeronaut, plus three for the clear pouches, one for my new TB organiser wallet, two for the clear cube and a sixteenth for my FOT pouch! Tired little fingers!
There were two different types. Some plain and some with TB on them. The TB ones are much, much easier to fit.
I'm going on a four night business trip a week on Wednesday, and I can't wait to try it out. I'll take a few pictures and let everyone see. I'm not sure an empty, deflated Aeronaut, would really be worth snapping!
One happy camper!
Eric
