Ristretto for iPad - gateway bag

After asking questions and checking photos here on the Forums, I finally decided I'd sneeeeeak into TB bags with a Ristretto for iPad in Plum/Wasabi, to be used as my netbook and beneath-the-seat plane trip bag. I was tired of digging in the bottom of dark bags, so the light interior caught my eye immediately. I ordered the Absolute Shoulder Strap to pamper bad nerves in my arms. The Ristretto line also has the standard warrior buckle-clasp that most TB bags feature, so it provided a way to test the hand-strength required.

I couldn't be happier with my bag. The Ristretto carried far more than I needed - netbook, cables, steno sized notebook, inflatable lumbar pillow, magazine, Kindle, pens, money/card case, phone, small camera, and snack. The buckle is stiff enough to be perfectly secure, but didn't require both hands (not even for my limited grip strength). The Plum color is gorgeous and rich, and the wasabi interior inspired.

The Absolute Shoulder Strap deserves praise all by itself. I couldn't believe how much difference there was in having a strap distribute the weight of the bag over the whole width and complete curve of the contact on my shoulder. It was amazingly comfortable.

Thanks to you all here, and your photos! I'm planning my next purchase as I type.

I've ordered the Ristretto in black/steel (not available until end of month). Looking forward to it - the 20+ year old satchel case I use at the moment has seen better days and is the wrong size.

Some women love shoes, I love bags. The Ristretto is by far the best netbook bag I've ever seen. I didn't mention above that I love the lack of velcro! It means I can get into my bag at a conference and not interrupt other speakers with a sudden, rude, 'rrrrrrrip!'.

I love that you call the Ristretto a "gateway bag." The Swift was my gateway bag. Now I don't want to put my stuff in anything unless there's a Tom Bihn tag on it, LOL!
