Getting to Know My Large Cafe Bag

Halfway through the third week with my new Large Cafe Bag (Olive/Wasabi, Q-AM Shoulder Strap). Haven't taken it to the field yet, but it has proven perfect for work. Holds my laptop (11 inch MacBook Air inside a TB Cache), lunch box, umbrella, and zippered pouch for computer cables and dongles, MetroNorth ticket, iPod Touch and headphones, and a couple of pens and pencils. Looks like a winner. Strap is very comfortable.

    Addendum

Forgot to add that I also carry a book to read on the train in the back pocket. This is currently Wolf Totem:

      I have 3 Large Cafe Bags, I typed 5 by mistake. :)

I love love them, they are the perfect size for everyday and have been my personal bag in every one of my domestic flights eversince I got my first.

They are strong, beautiful and so handy with all those inside pockets.

Thank you for sharing your reading, when I first saw the picture of the wolf, I said: "that's a dog!"

I then went to search for information and found out scientists think that the first dogs were from Eurasian wolf stock. They are now debating, the age and status of the first wolf who became dog. Was the first dog a baby wolf brought into a family or a teen just leaving his pack or an adult who was friendlier than the other wolves, most probably the lowest ranking in a pack?

Have you read "Never Cry Wolf" by Farley Mowat some say it's more fiction than science but it changed many people's perception of wolves, something no scientist was able to accomplish before that book.

Have not read Mowat's "Never Cry Wolf". I'll check it out. Thanks for the tip.

Nosy question, but what do you do with all your LCBs? I'm contemplating getting a second (the turquoise calls to me, and I may keep my punch one). I guess my question is what can two or three do that one can't?

I use them on trips with a matching Brain Bag on domestic plane or train trips, with a Brain Bag and a matching Swift on car trips. :)

When I am doing errands requiring paperwork, especially in offices where a backpack is not the best choice.

            They match my outfits. :)

I second the coordinating colors bit. I just did my first overnight trip with a navy LCB and my new navy/steel Swift. They worked perfectly and looked pretty nifty -- coordinated but not matchy-matchy since the 2 navy colors are different materials. But very nice.

I also found out that the largest TB organizer pouch tethers nicely inside the Large Cafe Bag. I slipped my new ipad2 in it's Cache inside and it worked great. Out of sight and hooked securely. So try supersizing the pouch and it's like you've got an additional full-width zippered section in the Large Cafe Bag.

Photo #1 shows the Cache inside the wasabi pouch. Photo #2 shows the pouch tethered inside my navy/wasabi Large Cafe bag. Ipad is safely hidden inside.

Very nice!! I was going to get a large pouch in Turquoise to match the outside, but I really like how yours matches the inside!!

It matches so well, I didn't see what Kinsale was refering to until I saw the dark border of the Large Pouch and realized that the Cache was for the iPad,

                  It is a wonderful idea!

I believe the new Breve for iPad/iPad 2 could fit in the north/south position if somebody wants a minimalist and streamlined iPad/iPad 2 carrying case inside their Large Cafe Bag.

Apologies for resurrecting such an old thread, but hiding an ipad inside a pouch like that seems like an excellent idea.

Could I just ask for confirmation that this is the large cordura pouch - 14.5" x 11.2". Assuming that the zip is along the long side, that means on paper the pouch is 2" wider than the cafe bag itself. Presumably that isn't really an issue, the pouch simply curls at the edges to fit the bag?

This looks great. I am trying to work out whether to get a medium or large cafe bag right now as a new MacAir11 owner. I currently have the SCB which happily accommodates my iPad. I'm nervous that the large will feel too big after being used to the small? Have you got an ultra suede strap or an absolute?

You can fit your iPad2 into the SCB? Really? Oh, this makes the SCB all the more tempting (as if I need another TB! Hah!)

Well it's an original iPad in the original Apple case - I'm not sure if it's smaller than iPad2? I eagerly await iPad3 hopefully for my birthday ;)

Admittedly there is not then a huge amount of room left in the SCB especially if you want to carry other books notebooks but I find my iPad plus my iPhone and wallet, headphones, a stylus all fit and I'm good to go. I can stuff a bit of knitting in there too.

Thanks, Vanper. A bit of knitting is usually in my bag, so maybe I could make the SCB work!
