Hah! I switched to separate hooks. 8 "Large" Grab Bags will just about fit next to each other on the back of that door. The Small one is dangling from its shoulder strap between them.

By the rate this is going, I need more doors ...

I'm actually more interested in how dirkhaun finds the material texture in comparison to his other grab bags. For me, the fabric combination used for Mistah J, Montana, and City Blues hits the sweet spot. I ordered another Small Grab Bag (Mistah J). I have some Cafe Bag Freudian Slips in Grass, so I thought the green tones might work well for me in futures photo ops.

Hmm. It's certainly more ... consistent than some of the other Grab Bags. But then again, the exotic side panels are part of the fun. I certainly wouldn't want an entire bag out of Red Microsuede.

One of the advantages of having bought a large number of my Tom Bihn bags from the very first production batch for that bag, (and continuing to happily use those bags) is that some of the fabrics you're sampling in the "exotic side panel" materials were actually used in these bags. For example, a burnt sienna shade of Ultrasuede was used for the left front compartment pocket of the Co-Pilot in 1050 Steel Ballistic Nylon/ Solar Dyneema (now Halcyon). They also made and sold the Medium Organizer Pouch in Cocoa and Leaf Green Ultrasuede so that it could be used as a pouch for the original release of the Kindle. I can roughly date the Clear Organizer Wallets by the color combinations used for the leaf dividers. Just sayin'

My order finally came in the mail this morning, and I think my two favorite items have to be the Night Walk Halcyon CP and Plum Cordura FJN.

Fun fact: an eight-pack of zipper pulls splits perfectly between the two bags (the CP requires 5 and FJN requires 3).

The Cambiata fits perfectly under the Southwest 737-MAX8 aisle seats. Those seats have the support beam inboard of the seat width, which noticeably narrows the space.

Oh, that's a really good fit. I keep saying the Cambiata is too big for me to use as the smaller travel bag, but . . .

(Has anyone used a Synik 30 in that space? I've fit it in the Southwest planes with the bar further back under the seat, but I haven't taken it on one of the MAX8 planes yet with that beam also making the space smaller.)

The Cambiata is a great personal item size bag (not a carry on!).

I tried to fit everything I would need for a weekend trip, and adding clothing and shoes ate up the main volume too quickly.

While it's tempting to cram as much as you can into the main compartment, it's better to fill that volume with lighter items than heaver ones (the thinner, Daylight-style straps aren't great for heavier loads).

I've hiked over 10 miles at once while wearing a Cambiata, and probably had at least 10 pounds in the bag (water alone weighs more than you'd think!) but I wouldn't want to lug that kind of weight around all day at an airport.

What's nice is the slim profile, the fact it stands on its own, and that you can crack open the main compartment, unzip the zippers, and have a very organized setup that keeps everything within easy reach.

The Cambiata is probably one of the most underrated bags in the product line, but also one with the biggest learning curve - it's so unlike the other bags TB sells, you have to figure out how to make it work best for you. But if you can crack the use case, and create an organizational style that fits your habits, you're golden.

I used some key straps to attach a little (non TB) pouch holding an eye/sleep mask (crack of dawn flight) and an OP with N95 masks to the grab handle of the Cambiata, next to a Hero Clip.

They tuck down into the open backpack strap area and are easy to yank out when needed.


It's a simple quick access for things that I don't want to fall out and lose. I clipped them as a loop to make it easier to grab.


Also, forgot to take a photo yesterday, but with the bag tucked under the seat (as posted before), I was able to tuck a loop of the OpTech mini strap into the lower seat back pocket (Southwest 737-MAX8). That made it really easy to pull the bag out and up for access.

My new Açaí accessories arrived today. To me Açaí is a bit more grape than berry but I really like them. Here's a couple of comparisons between Moab and Açaí. Moab on the left in both pics.

Anyone able to photograph Acai next to Ultraviolet just to see the differences between those two colors?

My açai items should show up on Tuesday (I shipped to the east coast where I'm staying for the holidays so it's taking a while) and I have a UV YSS with me, if no one else gets to it, but it would be great to see more photos in the wild from everyone.

Also haven't seen many VPC photos yet from folks...
