    @roarmouse, @John, and others,

If you want to read a bit more about the "Black Bags" label in discursive fashion, and also see some more examples of Vintage Tom Bihn bags, take a read through of the Does Tom Bihn really exist and what does he look like? thread from two years ago (late March 2014).

It's got this post from @maverick:

There once was a man named Tom Bihn.
He made the most awesome bags and things.
Everyone in town loved his wears.
But hearing his name everywhere became a nightmare.
He tried to change the brand to Black Bag.
But that just caused sales to sag.
So he changed the company's name back to Tom Bihn.
And he changed his own name to Eddie Bauer.
My subsequent protest that the last line "doesn't scan properly", @Badger's explanation of scansion, and @maverick's referenced link to the Tom Bihn museum? thread, that has pictures of vintage bags, along with @Tom Bihn's post:

I'd probably change it to Eddie Bauer :)

HTH. Just some more miscellaneous forum digressions.

@moriond - I enjoyed that thread, particularly the limerick/poem. I didn't see examples of old bags though. Are there photos in that thread that I missed somehow?

I'm quite curious as I have a bag that I'm wondering if it is early TB. It is large (maybe 2 foot square and literally square-shaped) with an unusual zipper placement - actually a very clever design and that is why I think it may be TB, plus the fact that it came from Santa Cruz in 1980s. It has not label at all.

The vintage bags were shown in the Tom Bihn museum? thread, that @maverick linked to as the source of Tom's quote. You could have found the thread either by following my link to the thread, or by tapping on the arrow to the right of the quoted section that begins, "Originally posted by Tom Bihn". Clicking or tapping on that right arrow takes you to the post from which the quote is excerpted -- which happens to be near the end of the thread (after the pictures with posts of vintage bags.)

Today is Yves Klein's birthday, one of my favorite artists. In his honor, I named my navy/northwest sky Aeronaut 30 "le vide" or the void, a signature concept of his. He trademarked a shade of ultramarine: International Klein Blue, or IKB, "a shade of blue Klein was inspired to develop after searching for a shade of blue that effectively unlocked the endless void of space, eradicating the division of earth and sky. "
Navy is not very close to IKB, but the void is a great name for the Aeronaut! My last Aeronaut was black/steel, named the Black Hole, so it's nice to keep with a space theme.

My Black Halcyon DLBP just arrived moments ago, so I thought I’d share a quick pic.

First impression: the Black Halcyon is fantastic!!

(The grid may look a bit pronounced here in full-on late afternoon Florida sun, but it is very subtle in most lighting conditions.)

I also received my new Black Halcyon Daylight Backpack. It is difficult to photograph the grids, but here is my best try, showing the original against the new.

I LOVE it. It will be a pleasure to carry on my commutes for those days when I need a backpack, and as a travel bag. Really a different look than the white grid, and which you prefer is a very subjective preference. I'm on Team Grey Grid.

The Northwest Sky interior is obviously brighter than the former steel, and while I am fine with it, I can't help wondering how amazing a navy or steel parapack would look as a lining instead. Just a thought...

My apologies if the colors in either of these photos is off. I adjusted the light levels down a bit in an effort to capture the black look of the new bag as it appears to my eyes.

In short, I love the new fabric and am excited to see it in other products.

I love it too--looks great! I hope to get an Aeronaut in the Black Halcyon when it's available. I'm sure I won't be the only one either. Is there an ETA on Aeronauts in the new Halcyon?

I also got the black DLBP today, which is gorgeous. But the paws down unboxing winner was the bat! Even my littlest has played with it already (despite getting it stuck under his feet while shaking it 'very fiercely').

@kkintea, I'm really glad they made more of these, and that you were able to get a Skookum Bat. Earlier this month, Darcy posted in reply to @threeteez:

So I was glad to see the bats show up under the New Bags in Stock thread, and even happier to view your pictures here!

It looks like the Aeronaut 45 will be in stock in at least some of the new Halcyon 400d color combinations by the end of the day today!
Have a question? @Darcy (to make sure I see it)
