Brain bag for large and small

I got my dh a Navy Brain Bag last year when I went to the factory last spring. He has used it exclusively for his leisure travel bag for trips spanning an overnight to over two weeks. (his business travel involves grease and grime and he uses a lesser promotional freebie bag until its all used up). It not only holds his clothes and shoes, it manages his essential CPAP machine and accoutrements. Rocky loves his Brain Bag.



A few weeks ago I bought a brain bag in Olive for my middle child. He will be an overnight camper next year at The Rock | A Christ-centered Summer Camp Adventure in North Carolina and will need his own bag for the week. I want him to get used to packing his own things into packing cubes, etc. He carried it for the first time for this past weekend's stay at his grandparents house. Each section was filled with a large eBags packing cube, one for him, and one for his brother. There was plenty of room left over. It wasn't 50% full. He will be 8 in 2 days. Mardie loves his Brain Bag.



I love that the Brain Bag works for both my husband and son. I will be getting another for my eldest son to replace his eBags weekender soon. Im still trying to decide what color to pick for him. They are worth the investment because they may last until my sons are as old as my husband and probably then some.

For those of you wondering about the picture with Rocky, yes Zuri is carrying her own Tom Bihn bag. She debuted her Ruck's Sac this weekend. She too loves her bag, she just wishes it was pink!

I purchased a Navy Brain Bag for my oldest son this summer in preparation for 8th grade. He loves it! He says it's the first backpack where he can fit everything and not have things (books, binders, lunch, PE stuff, after school sporting stuff) feel crammed. I like that it works so well every day for school and that he'll be able to use it as his "suitcase" when we travel. I plan to purchase a Brain Bag for each of my kids as they hit middle school/high school. Now for Zuri and my girls, if we could just get some Brain Bags in azalea and plum...!

Yes, if i could get one in a girly color I would most definitely buy one for Z. Even though right now she's too little for it. I would get it and save it for her to grow into it. Maybe, one day. . .

Yep, if there's anything I've learned- well, besides how smart and well-designed and durable TB products are....and how incredible the TB crew is....and how to pack smarter and more efficiently, whether packing for the day or for a trip- it's this: if there's a TB item in a color you like (or that your loved one likes) PURCHASE IT AS SOON AS YOU CAN!

I'm with you, dorayme. When Brain Bags begin appearing in pinkish or purplish hues, I will grab 3...even though my girls are little!

Dorayme -- That photo of Mardie is adorable! He's still so small that he looks like a Galapagos tortoise, but since TB bags last forever, he'll be able to grow into his Brain Bag!

The big question is whether you would buy a Brain Bag for yourself. I'm 5'3½, and although I can carry a Brain Bag, I feel it's too big for my frame to use comfortably. I don't have the same issue with the Aeronaut, though, because I don't pack it so that it bulges. I'd much rather use my Synapse.

But I have to say that your kids look adorable in these pictures with the Brain Bag!

I haven't tried to pack my things into or carry either Rocky's or Mardie's Brain Bag when full. I love my Western Flyer, it's a great size for me for almost all of my travel needs. I am saving for an Aeronaut for extended trips and times when I want to combine packing for myself and other family members.

I think though with the ability to cinch it down combined with the waist and sternum straps, if packed properly I could manage it. There is something to be said for not bringing along more than you can carry. The tag line on the TB label is wisdom I've come to appreciate!

Eta, thank you on the comments on my kids :) they do love their Tom Bihn bags.

I always feel bad at the load of books we're (still) required to carry as kids for school. Most elementary kids have backpacks that are at least 10x more loaded than mine for grad school, and make my back ache just looking at them!

Hopefully the "less cramped"ness of the Brain Bag means that folders will survived unsquished for longer than the first week of school!

Hi. Just wanted to say thanks to Tom Bihn for making such great products.

My second Brain Bag just now arrived at the front door. I bought my first one back in 2001 - it was perfect then for my occasional travel with a PowerBook and its necessities. That older bag is still going strong, 5 years after I bequeathed it to my son when he went off to college. I moved to a new job this year that involves a *lot* of travel and requires that I haul a goodly amount of laptop and tech as an IT consultant. Of course the Brain Bag came to mind and I placed an order for another BB, all black, with a horizontal Brain Cell for my MacBook Air along with the requisite Snake Charmer and Freudian Slip.

I'm as impressed now as I was when I got my hands on my first BB. Great quality construction, durable materials and the add-ons are a perfect fit. My only regret is that you've changed the handle design. I rather liked the original two-piece leather handle with snaps, but that's a nit compared to my satisfaction level with this most recent purchase. (Oh, and I guess I was hoping for a surprise Mini Pouch tucked in there somewhere, but it *has* been a while since I've been here… ;-)

Same here, I also have the Aubergine/UV and Steel/UV Aeronauts in mind, I have been inspired by your use of the Western Flyer in the vacation house on wheel and packed my Brain Bags and current Aeronaut when Issac showed up.

Two mega storms in a year are more then enough of an incentive to have clothes and my completed needlework ready to be packed at all time.
I know how long it took to put the essentials together before Issac, it would not have been possible if there had been the threat of severe flash flood.

Unlike any other bag, the Aeronaute is as easy to stuff as it is easy to pack meticulously, a great plus when one is in a hurry.
It has many handles and its shape makes it easy to stack a couple on top of each other in back seats (provided they are not already full of babies, doggies or kitties) or a trunk.

The biggest bonus about the Aeronaut, waterproof, easy to close zippers!


It might sound like a commercial, but it is not, one doesn't care about brand and other "stuff" when dealing with an emergency, a well made product is essential because it becomes invisible, it just works.

5 years later... how did the Brain Bag work out long term for your son? I just purchased Brain Bags for my 8 year olds.
