And here is one with a Timbuk2 Uptown BackPack as well. Timbuk2 is much more comfortable (straps) than the S25; however there is a big difference in material quality.

    Good luck with your decision.
    Peruvian, you are the man!!!!
Thanks a million for taking the time to post the pics..

    Very comfortable.
If u r going to online order them I find that barefoot they tend to run on size, but with thin'ish socks I had to bump it up a size.
( if u have a whole foods near by, they stock a limited range)

I use the 19 for very short hikes, walking the dogs then needing a place to put my sweater when it gets warm, walking around museums when I don't want to use my copilot off to side, etc.

For a plane trip, a medium hike or a full day out touring around a European city I definitely use my S25.

On plane rides I've gotten to use my "toms slippers" after I take off my shoes and walk around, when I'm ready to land I slide a thin sock around each one and slip them on either side of my "e bags slim lunch box. Misc items r distributed between the pockets and my snake charmer which fits into the bottom section.

At times, such as in a museum that doesn't allow backpacks around the galleries I have at the ready my medium cafe bag or steel dyneema copilot ( which sits wonderfully at the bottom of the main compartment bring used as a packing cube.) which then comes out as I check in the S25.

One side note, when I'm doing this "nesting" thing with the CoPilot in the S25 I find that the standard shoulder strap is more manageable as a stored item than my absolute strap.

I could ramble on, but I've got to get back to work.

    Cheers.
Thanks Trailhiker... perhaps you have some pics w both bags..? Thanks in advance!

    Toms, not Tim's: toms.com.

They make other things but are most famous for lightweight slip-on shoes for men, women, and kids. Very lightweight and slipper-like and thus easy to pack.

    Thanks Badger.
It's more of a size issue. The monetary difference between the two I think is negligible ($10). But I am not sure because of my size either the 19 would look small, or the 25 would look too big. I'll probably never used it for a weekend bag (to carry everything around..) but I would like to use it for day hikes, for traveling in airports, and as an occasional replacement for my Tumi messenger. Some of the pics I've seen of the 25 on someone's back...it looks very elongated.. Any thoughts?

Nordic is not being retired, so there is a chance that there will be another batch of Synapse 25 made in that color.

Nordic/UV would be nice to add to my collection of Tom Bihn acquisitions in that ultra-gorgeous color pair.

The placement of the lower pocket zipper makes sense for each bag. The S 19 has a smaller pocket which is perfect for the 3D Organizer Cube and other smaller things.

But... After using the S 19 as an EDC = Everyday carry, people who have to take laptops and prefer to pack their lunch found out the S 19 was a bit of a squeeze.

So we said we wanted more space and Tom delivered the new S 25 design.

What tom gets and what most designer of say, Plus Size clothes don't is that something in a bigger size needs to be entirely re-designed.

Especially when the people say, we want to be able to fit the Side Effect.
