Wider strap is legitimately a total game changer.

Fully loaded, that Side Kick would dig into my shoulder a little more than I liked.

    The Side Hustle doesn't.

I think the wider strap, paired with the fact the proportionately bag spreads the weight of my items out across a larger area, makes it a much more comfortable carry than the Side Kick.

It's basically a Standard Strap (minus the pad, which I don't miss at all and I'm glad they omitted).

And I'm a huge fan of the Side Kick - it was the very first bag I ever bought from Tom Bihn and it has remained one of my favorite bags made by the company, since, but I honestly think I might prefer the SH.

Excited to hear what you think, Tonya!

Instead of camping outside at a state park this weekend, I'm staying inside a mid-century roadside motel.

It guarantees me a warm bed and a hot shower after what will probably be a very cold and wet day of hiking in the rain tomorrow.

It still counts as backpacking if I'm living out of a backpack for a few days, right?

Shout out to MaiaH whose Instagram Reel was the inspiration to use an ADX26 and PCSBs for a weekend trip: it was surprisingly easy to fit three days into twenty six liters!

You can also peep the SSK I'm using for toiletries, the All Fabric 3DOC that holds my cords and chargers, as well as the LTT that serves double duty as a storage case for my white noise machine, and a nightstand valet tray for my eyeglasses case, wristwatch, keys, wallet, etc.

Since we were just talking about Monarch 200d Halcyon, here's an oSSB visiting a farmer's market.

I wore the Side Hustle like a fanny pack while day hiking up in Door County, Wisconsin today.

I really liked being able to stash my phone in the front zippered pocket and my paper maps in the back open top pocket.

My camera was in the main compartment where I could remove it quickly when I found something to photograph.

And there's more than enough room in the bag that you can rummage through it without pushing any of your contents overboard.

Truthfully, it could fit a couple water bottles, but next time out, I might try to use this same bag in hip belt mode again and add on the Padded Hip Belt Pocket so I can carry a water bottle without putting it inside the main compartment (because I'd rather not get condensation all over my other stuff).

I'll probably kick out a review of the Side Hustle once I've got some time to sit down at home and pound one out at an actual keyboard, but so far I've got nothing but good things to say about this bag.

The SH is wonderful, but the peanut butter M&Ms were what really caught my attention. What pack is that--kind of looks like the Nashville Cutaway??

Ha! Lunch that day was courtesy the local gas station's snack aisle. Most accessible and lightweight calorically-dense foods? Junk food!

              And good eye, John1970!

              Your guess earns half credit.

The daypack is made by Nashville Packs, but it's not a Cutaway!

This is the Tiempo (same straps, smaller model backpack designed primarily for trail running).

What's nice is that by placing the 2 liters of water in the front side shoulder strap pockets, you can load the backpack with an equivalent amount of weight, and the pack just feels like it's balanced atop your shoulders.

Only problem then becomes what to do with the stuff I normally keep in my shoulder strap pockets.

So that's where the Side Hustle comes in real handy: quick access to all the small stuff where I can easily reach it on my front side.

My 1050 ballistic large Yeoman roamed New Zealand's North Island last month (April). Here she is patiently waiting for the bus in Roturua.

At this point, her load weighed 42 lbs / 19 kg - twice her weight on arrival. The added weight are all chocolates :).

                  21 pounds of chocolate!?

whoa! I'm impressed (and now, somewhat hungry)

So you could have fit 42 pounds of chocolate in that Yeoman but only brought back 21?

                    Tsk, tsk.

                    Missed opportunities, Walker! :-)

Love seeing the old luggage tags, and smart of you to thread it through the shoulder strap attachment point.

42 lbs of chocolates would have knocked about inside the large Yeoman, Chicagoan. Needed the clothes, etc. to pad them. But, I agree about the missed opportunity :).

I miss the old luggage tags. They have their uses.

Yep, G42 - 21 lbs of chocolates is correct; 11
kilos to be exact. 44 bars; each bar is 250 grams. I kept 4 bars for myself. The rest went to beautiful people :).

After many years of attempts, I finally landed on an organization strategy I’m (almost*) happy with to use the Maker’s Bag as a camera bag. Today was a photo road trip and the MB served nicely as a front-seat camera bag that was comfortable enough to carry for short walks thanks to the Absolute Strap.

Aubergine/Steel Maker’s Bag, I think from the second production run of the original design. Tom Bihn Absolute Strap was a necessity for this load.

*I used an older padded camera insert from my stash, which I’m not entirely happy with as it’s a little too tall and stiff. Tried two other inserts so far that haven’t worked out, another will be here this week and I’m crossing my fingers it works. Full gear list, organization strategy, review, etc planned once I have an insert I like.
