Hi All,
A portion of my job involves me flying and presenting/selling to C-level executives of 1000+ employee companies. Typically I fly out in casual clothes the day before a meeting, present the following day in formal suit/tie and either fly back that 2nd night or end up staying an extra day for exploring the city I'm in. 80% of the time these are 1nighters, 20% of the time it will be 2-3 nights.
My work items I am carrying are minimal:
- 13" Dell Ultrabook
- 4-5 misc adapters, small mouse, small laptop charger, phone charger
- Business Cards and Pens
- 8" Tablet
My problem is carrying all my extra items for the overnight trips while still looking professional in my suit at my meetings. In other words I can't use a backpack.
Extra items include:
- All above items
- Toiletries
- 1 Suit (likely packed since I will fly out the night before my meeting)
- 1 Dress Shirts
- Size 13 dress shoes
- 1 extra change of casual clothes depending on length of stay
- Socks/Underwear/Belt
- Extra cables... small misc items.. book?.. etc
- Sometimes a small bluetooth speaker if I have the space
- One additional optional set of clothing depending on the destination and what I'm doing (beach attire maybe, going out at night attire, company polo shirt for trade shows, etc)
I am 6'2 and 220 pounds so my clothes/shoes are not tiny.
Currently I travel with a briefcase and a carry-on roller and I absolutely hate it. Sometimes I overstuff my briefcase and it looks sloppy. I want 1 bag.
WF/Tri-star my best picks? WF too small? Other options?
Any feedback, tips or tricks would be greatly appreciated
Less important Bonus problem:
I really care the most about the above but if you are really gung-ho you could also suggest a daily briefcase to carry on my non-overnight trips as well as why you feel this is best. I only need to carry the 13" ultrabook, 8" tablet, mouse/cables/adapter, business cards and pens.
I haven't started doing much research in this area since it isn't really a problem as I have a bag, but the bag is old so I'd like to replace in the next 6-8 months.
Least important Bonus problem:
Best backpack for personal travel? 3-4 night trips, multiple change of clothes, 8" tablet, extra pair of shoes, no laptop, gym clothes, cables, adapters, bluetooth speaker, baseball hats, I guess just usual standard 30 year old techie items
Also will double as a carry-on for longer trips with a checked bag
Just thinking out loud here but I guess realistically I could combine this with a smaller daily briefcase if I needed to stay longer or needed more space. But I'm still concerned about actually going to the business meeting when I'm flying out right afterwards. Carrying the backpack and my briefcase would look silly with my suit and leave a bad impression with some of the oldschool executives I meet with...
