You should be able to do that. There are two zipper pulls on the CF case - arrange them so they're on one side or another of the case as opposed to the bottom, and you should be able to open them enough to pull your laptop out of the side. IMO, it's not too difficult to unfurl the bag and remove the laptop, either, but I know what you mean.

Can anyone tell me if it is possible to remove the laptop from your CF w/o unfolding it? Can the laptop case be unzipped on the side so that it can be slipped out horizontally?
I can foresee some complications if it cannot as I unfulr the CF on a plane to get my computer out and knock over every drink in my row.
