What fits in a buzz?

I was looking for another new Tom Bihn bag, to take with me off to college. I'm looking for something that will fit my 13" (old) MacBook, some pens and whatnots, a notebook and maybe one or two small textbooks. Does anyone have any expierience with the buzz in that regard? I have a small and med. cafe bag which I love, just looking for something more backpackesque, but all of the other backpacks look too big.

I purchased a buzz a couple of years ago. It will hold a small laptop. I have a company laptop at home I use for support issues. I will see if it fits. This will give you a better idea of whether the macbook would fit.
The work laptop is 13 x 9.5 x 1 1/4. It was tight fit.

It looks like the current Buzz is bigger than mine. So, as the others have said, your MacBook would probably fit.
The only thing lacking would be protection afforded by a brain cell.

A Macbook will easily fit into the Buzz as well some other things including a notebook and small text books - as lonng as everything is not too thick - maybe 2 inches of extra stuff. I had a buzz for a couple of weeks - really liked the design and concept but discovered that I am just not a backpack kind of guy. Returned it and got an ID - which, for me, is perfect. Now I bounce back and forth between the ID and the Ristretto depending on my needs.

everyone's input has been pretty nice. And as for textbooks and whatnot, sad is is that the small algebra textbook costs more than the buzz! Ridiculous. Does anyone know about if the newer 13" Macbook/Pro would fit? i'd assume so, but I haven't seen the new ones in person yet.

indeed, the new 13" macbook pro will fit. i know that the 15" macbook pro (with the matte screen) also fits.

can someone who has the buzz and the new 15" macbook pro with the glossy screen confirm whether the two play well together?

What is everyones opinions on the Smart Alec? I just don't like backpacks, to be honest. The truth of it is the bag i bought from god-knows-where is finally is wearing out, and all of my Tom Bihn stuff is fantastic.

if you don't like backpacks, then you may not like any backpack that TB has to offer and perhaps you could consider one of the messenger bags instead.

to answer your question, i have the smart alec and it suits me really well. i use it for my commute and for traveling. i considered the brain bag, but i wanted a bag that was large enough to hold what i needed and not for things i didn't need (i tend to overpack). the smart alec is good for that. it can expand to hold my laptop, cords, and enough clothes for a weekend trip. or, it can condense using the elastic string on the front to hold things right against my back. the backpack straps are very comfortable, which comes in handy on days when i have to carry heavy loads. on the rare occasions when it's fully packed to the gills, i can use the elastic to hold a sweater or jacket on the outside.

one thing i wish the smart alec had that would make it the perfect backpack is a convenient outside pocket to access while wearing it - for commuter tickets, keys, change, etc. it would be a pocket that i can reach around and pull out what i needed without having to take off one strap and swing the bag around, which can be difficult when the bag is full. maybe a hidden zipper pocket in the back panel? or an attachment to the backpack strap?

Ironically, 've never been a fan of messenger bags either. (I know, i know, picky.) They always seem too big for me. But, the Imago doesn't seem too over sized, and honestly, looks liker it can hold everything I want it to. So many choices! Again, all i'm interested in carrying is my macbook 13", a standard three-subject notebook, and maybe twoish smaller textbooks, all in something not too large or heavy, or even, easy to carry. (i'm 6'4 with arthritis.) But I do love my café bags. The real problem: Too many choices.
