    Imago Questions

I'm thinking of getting the Imago as a bag for the new 13" MacBook Air. I assume that the MBA in a cache will fit in the Imago. But would it accommodate the MBA and an iPad?

Also, I am thinking about the Olive/Cork/Steel combination. How well does cork stand up to use, rain, etc.?

And will a large organizer pouch fit in the main compartment? In the back pocket?

It will definitely carry the MBA in a sleeve as well as an Ipad, not to mention a lot more. I have the steel/cork/wasabi Imago and the cork is fantastic. It does get a tad darker with use--you will notice that the bit of cork protected by the buckle will be a bit lighter than the rest of the cork after a while. But I have discovered that a gentle washing restores it to practically the original color--and by gentle, I mean a light stroking with a flannel washcloth dipped in warm water. No soap needed.

The Imago is my absolute favorite out of all my Tom Bihn bags, and that's saying a lot. (Though I admit that the Ristretto has become my everyday computer tote since I started using my Toshiba Portege 705 as my standard computer.) There's just something about the lines of the Imago, the organization of the bag, and of course, the cork...

      large organizer fits, sort of

      hi, wennefer,

i use the large organizer with my imago. the large organizer sticks out of the back pocket by about 2 inches or so; also, it's a bit folded and not flat in the back pocket. it will firmly in the back pocket when used that way; i don't worry that it might slide out.

inside the imago, it is also bent in the long direction, not flat, but it can still hold folders well. at the top along the edge where it meets the top of the bag, it will also curve with the flap of the bag. i use it for carrying folders about an inch thick and my papers do not get wrinkled.

i have the steel/cork/wasabi combination and like it very much. i just happened to walk outside with it in a downpour today, and it stook up quite well to the rain, better than me and the jacket i was wearing! the cork looks the same when it's dry as before it got wet.

      hope this helps!

Another +1 for Cork in the Imago combination. The Imago that I usually carry is Hunter/Cork/Sage with a Quick-Adjust Messenger Strap, where I've linked to a post with a photo taken by eristick of this older color combination in ballistic nylon. You should have no problem with fitting a MacBook Air + iPad into your Imago.

You might want to look through the How do you use your Large Organizer Pouch? thread for pictures and discussion. My large pouches seem to stick up less than most, though they do sit high in the bag. Shown there is a Cocoa/Cocoa/Wasabi (Cordura) Imago from the first generation release of that bag (when there was no choice of other straps).

        HTH. Cheers,

Thanks all for your comments and the pointer to the large organizer pouch thread. Very enlightening. I've ordered the Olive/Cork/Steel Imago, since it seems it will fit my needs based on the discussion.
