    NON-clear 3D Organizer Cube?

OK I'm just racking my brain here. Did Tom Bihn ever offer a NON-clear version of their 3d organizer cube? I could've sworn they did, but looking at their product list now I see that they don't.

Somehow I had it in my head that the Side Effect was basically the same, with more bells and whistles, but I just got it in the mail today, and it is definitely much longer than the Organizer Cube.

Don't get me wrong; I love this Side Effect! But it's fancy... and a little bit too long to comfortably fit in one of the Co-Pilot front pockets (because I HAD to get one of those!).

I was hoping I could pick up a 3D Organizer Cube that was all fabric that I could use as a makeup bag/tiny purse. The Cube is the perfect size, but I would never use it as a wallet/purse because it's transparent. On those rare occasions (like going out at night!) when I just want to carry my coin purse, cell phone, tinted lip balm and maybe a folding brush, the Side Effect is way more than I need, even.

So was there ever a non-clear one? Or am I just imagining things?

    I never saw such.

Have you looked at the Kit for a makeup bag/tiny purse?

Oooooh, I'd love one of these, too. In Ultraviolet, please, and without the inner hook for hanging. Great idea (if this is a new concept) or memory (if you are recalling an old product), Lani!

I just got my 3D Organizer Cube and I just might be in love. The size is perfect for daily use. I love that it can be carried with a strap or hung from a hook or tethered in a larger bag.

ps. I also need one in Solar. And probably Iberian. Three total. I do love the dyneema fabric.

pps. The outer color of the one I received is steel, but the inside is a light yellowy green. Is that what wasabi looks like in person?

I don't have any strong feelings about the hook on a completely opaque pouch. That might help keep the cost lower.

And actually, a very plain 3D Organizer Cube with Cordura panels and baby D-rings would make perfect little cross-bodies. Perfect for wearing around the office or heading out for a night out with friends.

OK I'm talking myself into really wanting one. Plus, they're pretty affordable; I'd get them in different colors!

The Kit is a great old-fashioned shaving kit but not that great for a make-up bag for me. I don't know about other women, but the triangular shape of the shaving kit makes them typically hard to carry things like round compacts.

As for using it as a tiny purse, I think I would probably pass. I don't know how well it would hold a cell phone; it has no D-rings to hang as a cross-body, and the piping around the edges are great for keeping the bag's shape, but it looks like I'm using a shaving kit as a purse. For me, personally, I would pass on that.

The Kit is not a shaving kit, I admit that it might be difficult to envision but it is one of the most stylish form I ever seen in a small bag.

I have 4 Kits so I know from experience how streamlined they are.

I understand that the lack of o-rings on the side makes the Kit a clutch only purse but a clutch is more stylish anyway.

The Kit holds a smart phone, mirror, keys, lip balm, lip liner, eye shadow compact and small perfume spray bottle.

One D.I.Y idea would be to string a thin strand of a steel, silver or gold chain in the zipper opening and hold the Kit at the wrist (19th century, early 20th century style).

You mean their 16" key strap? I hadn't thought of that. Does the hole in the Kit's zipper pull have enough room to the two clips from both ends of a key strap?

The 8" keystrap is too short to use as a wristlet but the 16" should work nicely.

Ha! I ordered a 16" key strap specifically to try it as a wrist strap! Sneaky, sneaky.

No! Tom Bihn just designed a wrist strap and put it on Facebook a week or so ago. It's a loop of nylon webbing with a clip like the key strap on one end. I have one coming my way and will let you know about it when it comes. My assumption is that like everything else Tom Bihn it will be full of awesomesauce!

It's not bad. If we had an all-fabric 3D, then clipping it from one side to the other would make a sweet little purse that you could wear over your arm. It's a little long when both ends are clipped to one side of a bag, so perhaps a 14" or even 12" strap would work better in that scenario.

The suboptimal part is that if you use it with an organizer pouch, you end up having three clips all clipped together. If we had supplemental o-rings, it would work much better (IMHO).
