A question for Swift bag owners...

My mother's birthday is coming up soon, and I was trying to come up with gift ideas for her. She is a Speech Pathologist and travels between multiple schools and day care centers. The back of her car is pretty much a mobile office and she uses various sized tote bags that she has picked up throughout the years to carry her books, paperwork, and therapy tools (toys) for her students. I thought that a TB bag would be a nice, practical yet thoughtful gift. I am just trying to get an idea of the size of the Swift, and what exactly it all offers.

I would say that her average load consists of of one or two 1' to 1 1/2' binders, a clipboard, a few books, and an occasional toy/puzzle for therapy. I am wondering if this would fit in the swift?

Any pictures would be wonderful for me to get a better idea of the size, and obviously any opinions are welcome (I'm waiting for you dorayme ^.^)

I just got a Swift over the weekend, so I've not fussed about with carrying all sorts of different things quite yet, but mine currently has a well-filled one of these, a large-ish book, a yarn stuff sack with two skeins of yarn, and enough assorted stuff in the pockets (coupons, earbud headphones, ipod, camera, camera battery charger, more earbud headphones, candy...) to make them full.

My best guess would be that all you've listed will fit.

What I am loving best about the swift is how it fits very well on one shoulder. I find that I can hang it behind my back and actually forget that it's there. It has nearly all the stuff from my last bag, but it seems lighter somehow.

I think the Swift would be a great bag for her needs and would transition well into more and less formal environments. I also think that some organizer pouches (large for papers/thinner binders/ clipboard and medium for puzzle/toy would also help with organizing the bag and helping it to keep things at her fingertips. A packing cube shoulder bag would also work nicely within the swift to allow her to have an even smaller grab and go bag for certain sessions where she didn't need the entire swift. If she wanted to tuck a smaller clutch purse into her swift or a side effect I think it could handle it with the above listed items. If your mom loves quality, organization, looking sharp and feeling great about her accessories, she is going to love her gift!

I agree with dorayme. I've often had my MacBook Air in a cache, iPad in a cache, large organizer pouch with papers, some smaller pouches (for those electronic gizmos) in my Swift. I can stick in my Side Effect if I don't want to carry that separately.

I've also used a horizontal Freudian Slip (which sticks out a little over the top) to organize papers, but often find the large pouches are fine for what I need to carry.

The Swift is an amazing bag. It's really like a TARDIS.

How do you find the Cordura on your swift? I'm pretty sure I'm going to go with the Swift. My original thought was to get your color combination that you have for your Swift, but then I was thinking--seeings how she is going to be using it more as a utility tote--perhaps the ballistic nylon might be better for her--giving her bag a little bit more of a rigid structure.

I actually like the Cordura because there's a little less structure (I think it makes it easier to stuff it ). The bottom of the Swift is ballistic, so the base has a lot of structure and the bag stands up even when empty.

Here's a picture of my Swift with two 1-1/2" notebooks, a small textbook, and my Side Effect in it. I still have a lot of room next to the SideEffect for other things (such as a medium-size toy or whatnot).
