    Steel or black Co-Pilot? Help!

I have definitely decided on an early birthday purchase of a Co-Pilot for my every day bag, but cannot decide between Black/Iberian or Steel/Ultraviolet. I love the Ultraviolet interior of the Steel bag (and it would match my Synapse!), but the practical side of me tells me to get the Black instead, especially since I would be using this at work, and carrying it to client locations. I'd also like to have it "blend in" as I am out and about in the North Jersey/NYC area I call home. The Steel appeals to me precisely because it is not Black, yet it's also not a bright distracting color, but as much as I would like to get it, my hesitation with the Steel is that it will look too drab.

I've browsed through all the forum posts, looking at the great pics of the Co-Pilot, even the Steel ones, but I'm not sold yet. Do any of you that have purchased this color think it's drab, or does it really look better in person? Thanks!

I got the Tri-Star in Steel/UV instead of Black and have no regrets at all.
I think Black will show dirt/wear sooner too.

I have yet to see a TB color that didn't look better in person too.

On the other hand Black is Black!

I have a Steel Tri-star, and I don't find the color to be drab at all. All of the ballistic fabrics have a nice sheen to their weave, and while I'd not quite say that my bag is pretty it is far, far from dull.

I have a steel/UV co-pilot and I am quite fond of the colour. The ballistic nylon has a gorgeous sheen that is not in anyway dull. The steel ballistic differs from the steel cordura in that the cordura is dull in comparison. Having said all that I don't think that you can wrong with either colour. Black/Iberian would be stunning. Maybe you need 2 bags....

Thanks for all the quick replies everyone! @123veo, that's VERY tempting! I could have a "dress" Black bag and an everyday Steel bag - I like it. I think you've all convinced me that Steel is indeed the way to go. Time to fill my shopping basket :^D

Just to muddy the waters a bit, let me say that I just received a black/iberian tristar and I love it! Imho, black has the benefit of being casual or slightly more dressy if warranted. That being said, I think 123veo is correct in saying that you're likely to be happy regardless of which you choose AND that perhaps the answer is both!!

Without question the steel/ultraviolet. The steel is anything but boring and it will fit in at the most "proper" client offices. My next bag is the steel/ultraviolet Tri Star. There aren't many color combonations that are better, IMHO. Please let us know what you decide.

I have the Co-Pilot in black/iberian and the Imago in steel/cork/wasabi. Both are ballistic on the outside. In retrospect, I wish I went with the Imago in black/black/steel instead, although I do not like the steel color of the lining. The ballistic steel of my Imago is not drab, but as AVService wrote, "black is black."

I did wish that the Co-Pilot came with a black/ultraviolet combination. Here's hoping the oft-talked-about Pilot will come in black/ultraviolet.

I have a steel/solar co-pilot and just received a black/Iberian Cadet. Both look professional. I have used the co-pilot extensively professionally both locally and for travel. It fits right in in all situations and stands out from the standard black bags. That said, the new cadet will also work well in those situations. I think you would not go wrong with either.

                    One of each!

Seriously, I wish I could buy the bags in every colour combination...so I can pick and choose depending on my mood before heading out the door!

Ok, I finally decided on........Black/Iberian. This morning, I dressed in black, grabbed my red and black coffee mug, slipped my iPad back into its black/silver/red sleeve, and drove past one of my alma maters (Rutgers, whose colors are red/black) on my way to work. I find it is often a smart thing to pay attention to the Universe as it sometimes throws not-so-subtle hints in one's path :-)
I just placed my order....now for the waiting!

Yes! I think Black/Iberian will ultimately be my choice for the Cadet as well, and I LOVE Steel. B/I is just such a stunning combo.

nukediver - I can see why you thought the universe might be sending you a message! I think you'll enjoy the black/iberian combo. I have an Aeronaut in the combo and I think it looks really sharp. Biggest downside when traveling is that it's black, the color of what seems to be about 80% of the luggage in airports. Yet, since it's the only bag "suitcase" i have with me most of the time, it doesn't usually leave my sight and isn't a problem finding in a sea of black bags on a luggage carousel. I hope you love your bag when you receive it. I hope you don't suffer too much from the case of TB Anticipation Syndrome before it arrives. No, to go out and check the Universe for signs of the next TB bag I should order!

Lol, I think you need to order a red bag next @Scattered - I'm in a bright red shirt today, and using a bright red pen at work! And TB Anticipation Syndrome has already set in; the down side of living on the East coast is the long wait!
