    Unloaded Synapse measurements/dimensions?

New guy here looking at purchasing the Synapse and have been trolling/searching these forums for a couple of weeks now. Been reading thread after thread and looking at all the great pictures of TB bags posted by you all.

Much like thoots in this thread I've gone through a ton of different bags looking for that *one* bag. So I have a couple of questions for you Synapse owners out there. I'm aware of the size/dimensions/weight listed on the product page, but what I would like to know is this: if the bag is unloaded and flattened out on a table, what is the height and width of the bag? The bag lists as 16" x 11.5" x 7.9" but I'm not sure if the height and width are the measurements of the outer back panel. Also, could someone provide the width of the shoulder strap. It is 3/8" thick, but there is no mention of the width.

Sorry for all the requests in a first post but I'm trying to get a comparison to the Jansport backpack that I keep going back to. (It's not that great but for now it'll do.) I'm planning on using the Synapse as my EDC bag and want to make sure it won't be too small before I'm make the purchase. I've never spent that kind on money on a bag before which is the reason for all the questions. But I do know that TB bags are very well made and will last a long time.

    Thank you for your help.

Hi Goliath, the back of the Syanpse top to bottom is 16 7/8 inches. The width is 13 inches. The width of the shoulder straps is 2 3/8 inches. That's the only part that doesn't need some explaining so here goes.

The mesh portion of the back panel is 12 inches tall. The last 4 7/8 inches, while padded, makes up part of the bottom of the bag once its set upright.

Measuring side to side includes the back of side pockets. The mesh panel side to side is actually 7 1/2 inches at the middle.

    Hope that makes sense.
    Take care,
