Will a Synapse fit Inside an Aeronaut?

    Hello,

So my question is the thread title. I emailed customer service, and was told no. However, the top post in this thread seems to suggest otherwise.

    http://forums.tombihn.com/customer-p...t-germany.html

There's not a lot of detail there, though, so I'm wondering if anyone with both bags can comment on the extent to which this is actually feasible for real world use.

(I am aware that Tom Bihn makes a packing cube designed to double as a backpack. For various reasons, this is not the solution I'm looking for.)

    Thanks in advance.

An empty Synapse, such as maverick was carrying, will certainly fit easily into an Aeronaut. Were you planning to carry a fully loaded Synapse inside the fully packed Aeronaut? The packing cube backpack can be used entirely as a packing cube in the Aeronaut, then be used as a backpack at your destination.

Perhaps you could give some more details about your envisioned use?

I'm working in Afghanistan, in a job that requires quite a bit of local air travel, often on helicopters or small cargo planes. Basically I need a bag that can hold everything I need for a few days, as well as a small backpack to carry when I'm not in transit. I'd also like to be able to fit some stuff (iPad, snacks, water bottle) inside the backpack while it is packed in the larger bag.

At the moment, I am using a Maxpedition Fliegerduffel, and a Kifaru E&E. Both are excellent bags, but I'd like something that looks a bit less military, without sacrificing durability.

The Synapse should fit very well inside the main compartment of the Aeronaut if you unbutton the straps inside and don't fill one of end compartments too tightly. Tested it now.

Thanks for trying it out! Just ordered both.
