Thanks for the comments...Under seat seat storage is always a very last resort for me. I'm 6'+ and no matter what you do it's cramped and uncomfortable. I've traveled quite a bit lately Den to SFO and on internationally and the commuter flights to SFO have really small overhead bins and limited storage space. My current bag (A LowePro Computrekker) by design doesn't compress well and even with empty outside pockets and removing items it's still difficult, if not impossible, to fit in the overhead bins on the smaller aircraft. Mainline carriers haven't been a problem.
AVService...We occasionally go over to Crested Butte...beautiful country!

Brain bag and airplanes

I flew on one of those tiny Air Canada planes RT Montreal - Ottawa. My BB packed full with empty front pockets was a very tight fit in the overhead bin. I did not want to force-jam my BB into the bin. So I removed some items, put them in a large TB shop bag, which was also in the BB. Packing cubes could be useful. I did not have any on my trip, but I packed items in those air-release plastic bags. It was easy to pull one of them out of the BB.

I have no trouble in overhead bins although people look worried when I am bringing it down sometimes!
I have never tried under the seat, that is where my giant clown feet go.
I have pretty much stopped using the BB though and mainly carry the Tri Star now on trips as it is just so much easier to get things in and out of the bag and I also like being able to carry it with a shoulder strap which the BB does not have?
And welcome Jim. We have a place in Gunnison in the summer, great area when the temps are nice!

Overhead bin works great, under the seat depends on how tall you are, how full the bag is, and how big the under seat storage is (some aren't as deep as others), for me, at 5'11" its not very comfortable.

Brain bag and airplanes
I travel 20 days out of the month and spend a lot of time on airplanes. Those of you who have traveled with the Brain Bag, how does it do in regards to stuffing under seats and in the overhead bins? I'm debating about the size.
