    Organizer pouch choices

Cordura, dyneema, ballistic, clear, cork, padded?

I can easily envision why one would choose a clear or a padded organizer pouch. But I'm curious if folks have reasons for choosing one of the other fabrics over another. And yes, collecting them is a valid reason in my book.

I have a cordura, cork & padded pouch that I have accumulated over time. I find it handy to keep track of the different things in them when I am fishing around my bag, or if I am switching bags on the go. I always keep my ipod/iPad doodads in the padded bag, for example, regardless of which bag I grab for the day.

Bear in mind that I tend to lose stuff, so the different fabric types help me organize my absent minded brain.

I have 1 set each of the dyneema iberian & clear dyneema iberian ( mini, small, medium, large + clear pencil). I like the dyneema pouches best for their lighter weight. I have no cordura pouches, but I purchased some for presents with bags. The TB folks make an effort to match the colors of the pouches I purchased same time.

I have the FOJ ballistic navy - it is stiff & substantial, perfect for the external hard drive I tote daily to work. On occasion, I carry small tools in it (scissors, pliers, small wrench, etc.)

Cork is great - the inside is soft. I have the old kindle cork pouch - same size as the medium. Great for carrying my galaxy tablet.

My wish is for ultrasuede pouches - those would be awesome!

        In a word: Yes.

Clear is good for my USB sticks. Padded is good for electronic goodies (iPod, cell phone, etc. -- I even have a padded pouch specifically for the Garmin in the car. Thanks to the pouch, I can literally toss the Garmin into the center console and not worry about it).

As for the rest of 'em, the materials distinguish the contents for me without giving away what the contents are.

I keep my wallet and change purse in a dyneema pouch so I can remove it from my LCB whenever I need to travel really light. Yeah, yeah, I could try the Bihn wallet but I'm not there yet. I still carry way too much with me everywhere. Sadly, I need multiple pairs of glasses at all times (regular glasses, sunglasses, and computer glasses -- all prescription) so that's perma-bulk in my bag....

Which is why my finger is on the trigger of the "Checkout" button right now...I don't have a large pouch in my collection. And since I know it would be lonely traveling in its box all the way to NJ, I'm thinking a Smart Alec would be a nice traveling companion for it (I've been eying one for a long time).....

nukediver - something needs to protect that large pouch during delivery. So maybe it should come "wrapped" in a Smart Alec. ;-)

With the ballistic pouches, you can actually select your colors, although they are limited. This is the only non-clear material the pencil pouch is available I think. With the cordura pouches, you can only ask for a color, but it isn't guaranteed so it is a little luck of the draw there. The dyneema are lighter weight and more flexible so you might prefer those for different things, they also seem like they would be easier to clean if you got something on them. At the end of the day, I think it is just whatever you prefer. Most of us have an assortment of all of them. I ordered the Iberian and Solar pouches because I needed those sizes, but also because I wanted to see those fabrics before I purchased a larger bag made with either one. I prefer pouches over fabric swatches! But yes, you should order lots of them! They make a great in-box companion for any other bag. And you can't order just one or they will get lonely.

                Now... Let's see.

                They are great fabric swatches.

Color coding = no more fumbling to find things

The Clears means well... you can see what you have or need.

Dyneema is great because it's very lightweight and washable. I place my everyday ink rollers there.

Cordura is great because you can stuff things, it can bulge a little but is strong enough to protect jewelery and other accessories.

The Large Pouch, a stylish wonder which store U.S. or A4 letter papers or file folders with ease.
Clear if you want to organize class notes and conference material or
All Fabric if you are transporting tax, work or other documents you want to keep private.

Both are perfect for color coding organization.

Padded Pouches, as someone pointed out, are absolutely perfect for fragile stuff, electronic is the first thing that comes to mind, but, if you have a fragile pin or ornament which need to be transported, they can come to the rescue.

Cork is really beautiful on the outside and soft on the inside.

The Nook and Kindle Pouch comes in Ultrasuede. The color on the website is "chocolate", not the official name of the color, it just reminds me of velvety chocolate ice cream.

Wow, just what backpack said. I choose clear, padded, Cordura, Dyneema mostly along the same lines. One thing I'll add: I use mini cork pouches for my business cards because it's so cool to pull out a cork pouch when giving someone a card.

Okay, you sold me on getting a couple of padded pouches as well as an e-reader pouch in ultrasuede. And maybe a small dyneema pouch or two. And...

I forgot to mention that I'm already a big fan of the medium clear pouch and the FOJ pouch. I use the FOJ as my wallet/change purse in my medium cafe bag. I also use a large dyneema pouch for when I have to cart around file folders and such to meetings. (Although it's funny how rare I actually need those files...)
