Picture Needed-- Aeronaut

Hey, could someone post a picture of the Aeronaut packed and being carried in backpack style. I have been looking a different things and I see people wear their backpack and all the contents have shifted to the bottom. The weight looks like they are pulling an anchor around. I don't think this would be the case in the Aeronaut because of the compartments. This is the last question to my search for the perfect bag for me.

Try a search on Flickr. Weight can be distributed with packing cubes as well. The backstraps will still pull a bit, if that's what will concern you. I relieve it by tightening up the straps. I find it's easier to carry with the backpack riding high. I'm a 5'8 medium sized woman. Waist and chest straps are essential to me. I think not using a roller also inspires you to not bring so much stuff by necessity. The first trip for me was about 20lbs. Then 17lbs. 15lbs. I'm aiming for 13lbs this time around. It helps if search the forums. The question you have is usually addressed already. It's kind of obsessive here.

I don't have a picture but I can tell you that everything stays where I put it. I tend to use the waist strap and let the shoulder straps loosen up a bit because I pack heavy and full. That way my hips carry the weight instead of my shoulders. Last trip, my bag weighed in at close to 30 pounds.

I do use the packing cubes, though usually I only get the large one in with my pants/shirts and everything else ends up loose because I don't have enough room to use a second layer of packing cubes.

I usually have a layer of paperbacks on the bottom for my mom and they don't shift, but I also pack pretty full. I do try to remember to pack my liquids in the side compartment that ends up on top so I don't inadvertently end up with a spill if I drop the bag to the ground.

ETA: I have an older Aeronaut that doesn't have the compression straps in the main compartment

But I second what others said - I used a packing cube and everything stays pretty much where I put it...

If it's mainly clothes, you can fit two very full large packing cubes. It doesn't look like it can fit but I'm always amazed to find I can closer the zipper and there's still lots of rooms on the sides... The only problem with the bag is that it has so much space that it is easy to pack way too much in it

As most people have said, you can search for forum post of pictures of the Aeronaut. Here are a few recent pictures showing people wearing the Aeronaut from flickr and from GEOcyccle's http://forums.tombihn.com/customer-p...them-%3Bd.html thread. The Aeronaut re-design added internal compression straps a couple of years ago, which makes sagging when carried backpack style even less likely. A lot (more than half) of the Aeronaut pictures in the People and Bags Tom Bihn flickr group currently date from closer to the time when the original Aeronaut was released, BTW.
