Look closely and you'll see a water bottle lid and below that a little bit of red: that's a 32oz Liberty Bottleworks bottle (just like our Matterhorn Water Bottle) about to be zipped up in the water bottle pocket of the Smart Alec.

Depends how much you put in it - 500 ml water bottle from the store or standard size bike bottle, no problem. If you put in, say, a bike bottle plus compact umbrella you'd need to leave it open.

HI Ken:
Yes: the water bottle pocket zips up tight. I have been able to put in a Nalgene bottle there; and anything slimmer will fit in perfectly without a problem. It is quite cavernous!

Question about Smart Alec water bottle holder ...
I am planning on order a Smart Alec and am wondering if the water bottle pocket can be zipped shut with the bottle in the holder. In the photos it shows it with the bottle hanging part way out -- that seems like it would be a problem in bad weather, etc.
