Blues and reds in organizer pouches

What are the blues and reds you have seen in organizer pouches? I just got two double organizer pouches in the most cheerful shades - one is a ballistic nylon blue that may be turquoise. It looks very bright. The other is a true red in cordura, redder than the lining of the original Ristretto I have, which I thought was cayenne. I am wondering if this other pouch is cardinal, but I can't recall if that's a cordura color.

Time to look at the pictures posted of pocket pouches and other accessories to do some wallpaper matching.

If it's an intense pure red, then it's probably Crimson. No idea about the ballistic nylon pouch, though. Indigo, maybe?

Why oh WHY couldn't I have discovered Tom Bihn earlier?!
The colors now are all nice and all but kinda safe, it'll be nice to see more flashy, bright, and bold colors like Crimson make a comeback.

I understand if a lot of people prefer neutrals for a bigger bag, but for accessories, wouldn't brighter colors be easier to differentiate and find?

icebang how do you like the Burned Orange? I think future generations of Bihnions will say the same about that color.
But I agree totaly with you: if only I had found Tom Bihn earlier. Turquoise and Azalea are the colors I miss... sigh and for my husband I would have liked the red Balistic for his Trabel Bags. Even so they would have clashed with my Aubergine.

Burnt Orange is great! I'm very taken with how it looks with Steel. It's just that I like cool colors more.
Although if they make the Cafe Bags with Burnt Orange/Steel Parapack, I'll be very sorely tempted!
(I know the Synapses are available in Burnt Orange/Steel Dyneema, but I just can't justify that many backpacks.... yet.... lol)

I have Pouches in Cardinal, the red ballistic you were talking about, as well as Aubergine, they don't match as well as say Forest and Aubergine, but in my opinion, they don't look bad together either.
There's a Cardinal Western Flyer up on ebay now, backpack version, but the color in the photo looks a little off to me.

I'm not on a mission to collect all the TB colors like adalangdon is, but I do like certain retired colors alot, and those colors might still be available in the form of pouches, and those are always useful to have around.
Have you tried asking if they still have Pouches in Turquoise and Azalea, llkyway? Might be worth a shot.

There are definitely Azalea and Turq pouches floating around. I have a MDOP and LDOP (the LDOP I got merely a couple of weeks ago) in Turq and I recall a recent-ish post from someone who got Azalea pouch-thingies.

Cardinal is a slightly darker shade of red than Iberian, but they are fairly alike IMO. Iberian goes nicely with Aubergine in the pocket pouch, so by analogy... they should go nicely. And indeed they do! Here's a pic. (tried to adjust to make the colours true-to-life, but monitors differ + one can only do so much in Instagram.) You should totally get Cardinal luggage if the opportunity presents itself! JM2C.

Amen. I'll take any loud and/but tasteful colour. Sometimes life is a lot more fun when you're carrying a crazy-coloured bag. School just started this week and my orange S25 is feeling smug in a sea of tan and black Herschel Supply bags. (Seriously, those bags are over-priced for the quality :S )

Did it look like this @GoStanford? I just received a beautiful red DOP as well! I assumed by the weave it was Cordura, and this likely Crimson in colour.

I received an azalea medium DOP about 2 weeks ago. I wasn't sure about it at first because I'm not into pinks, but is it so much deeper than your typical pink. After using it on my first TB trip, I've come to really love the bright pop of color. I would love some turquoise (dyneema) so I'll probably request it in my next pouch order.

I believe Tom created the Pouches and Kieu created the Q-Kit, in part, to make use of every, little or, not so little, pieces of fabric.

Ben is material manager, so he is probably the one who has to organize fabric availability versus shelf space.

There have been 3 new Cordura colors, two being very popular, so the remnants of older colors, for example Crimson, can be used in Pouches and 3D Clear Cubes, which only require a thin length of fabric.

I think the red I got may be Crimson. I will check again - thanks all for these photos! It is nice that these older colors may still be around in small pieces.

@GoStanford, for your question on double organizer pouch colors in reds and blues, I'll post some pictures of medium DOPs that I received near the end of June:
The colors, from top to bottom, are Crimson, Turquoise, Aubergine, and Cayenne. Crimson and Cayenne are 500d (finer weave) Cordura used in for the linings of bags (such as the interior of Cafe bags), and accessories like the Snake Charmer (for which 500d Wasabi is the only current Cordura option, since all other colors are 420d Parapack). Aubergine is Ballistic Nylon, and Turquoise is 1000d Cordure. I can't identify your ballistic nylon blue, since Turquoise was never available as a Ballistic Nylon color, and the only blue shades that I've seen in Ballistic Nylon are Indigo (introduced with the Tri-Star at the end of April 2009) and Navy, introduced two years later in May 2011. For another picture of a Turquoise DOP, see @lacyfinn's picture of a Kelly/Navy Large Cafe Bag with a a Medium Double Organizer Pouch in Turquoise in one of @Badger's Forum Roundup of pictures in the Blog at the end of May.

Here's a Small Cayenne DOP that arrived in the same order, shown with its back side against the Black 400d Dyneema/Wasabi Side Effect (top) and front view against a Nordic 400d Dyneema/Solar Side Effect (bottom). Contrast of the 500d Cayenne with the Black Dyneema is less intense than for the 500d Crimson:

The color that Cayenne really looks good against is Steel. Here's a front view of the Cayenne Medium DOP with a postcard pack (chosen for the steel and gray colors in the pictures) against a 400d Steel Dyneema/Solar Side Effect. I'd just gotten @Moose's Nordic/Steel WF and Steel 400d PCSB in a trade for my Cocoa/Wasabi Imago and Iberian PCSB, and I went sort of nuts getting more Steel 400d Dyneema items. I really couldn't do the colors of this combination justice, especially with the reflected light from the clear Urethane. One of the reasons that I didn't post these (and other) pictures at the time is that I have difficulty getting the color balance right with my iPhone 5 camera.

Here's a better color picture of Cayenne (back side of Small DOP) against a Navy Field Journal Notebook. Navy/Cayenne was a popular Cafe Bag color combination. In fact, I believe there's a video demo by @Maverick on the product page for the Medium Cafe Bag that shows off the bag in these colors.

I've hit the attachment limit, so I'll have to continue my reply in a second post. Just wanted to add that there are pictures of 500d Crimson Cordura in my post in the Travel Cables thread. (The back of the Medium Crimson DOP was used as a background to display the Kiwi/Nordic Pocket Pouch and the unpacked short travel connector cables for iOS devices with 30-pin, lightning, and micro-USB to USB connectors)

There's also a picture of the back of a 500d Cordura Large (older version) Crimson (fabric) organizer pouch from my post (#119) in the Daylight Backpack Impressions/Photos thread. This was used to answer @eWalker's question that the current large organizer and double organizer pouches can't fit in the zippered pocket of the (French Blue) Daylight Backpack because the tapered design that makes it more comfortable to carry also makes the zippered pocket too narrow to inserts a large pouch -- you'd have to carry it inside the main compartment and let the corners bend around slightly to fit it in. However, the large pouches do fit in the same zippered pocket of the Packing Cube Backpack for the Tri-Star/WF (with no tapered top), and if you happen to have the large organizer pouches from several years ago (e.g. the Crimson pouch shown in the picture, before the 2007 redesign), they would fit. By the way, Crimson 1000d Cordura, such as used in the outside of Cafe bags, and also for the 3D Clear Organizer Pouch shown in @wayoflife's post, looks a bit darker red than 500d Cordura Crimson -- a bit closer to the Cardinal Ballistic in @adalangdon's post. I won't try posting comparison pictures here, because (a) I haven't seen any 1000d Crimson Cordura pouches or accessories available from Tom Bihn for some time (meaning more than a year) -- only the 500d Crimson, and (b) we have the example of @wayoflife's post.

@icebeng, I'm just going to post this next picture without worrying about the crappy color balance. I took this quick picture yesterday in an attempt to answer the question of what Double Organizer Pouch color combinations were currently/recently available. AFAIK, every color shown in the top row of pouches is, or has recently been reported to be available as a Double Organizer Pouch. I'm leaving out the Parapack varieties, because you've been talking about colors, and that mainly means Cordura colors. So the criterion is that either I have to have this color combination in a DOP of some size, or else I have to know that someone on the forums reported having this color in a DOP.

Top row, left to right, colors are 1000d Cordura unless otherwise specified: Forest Ballistic Nylon, 500d Wasabi, Burnt Orange, 500d Cayenne, 500d Crimson, Aubergine Ballistic Nylon, Azalea, Turquoise, French Blue, Storm, Indigo, Kiwi Ballistic Nylon.

The bottom row is not complete (I have more colors, but I grabbed up a few to make up colors that I knew were available as DOPs, like Conifer and Linen, but it also includes some colors that are ringers (Cardinal Ballistic Nylon is about gone, and as far as I know was never around to make it into a DOP. I grabbed a Cardinal/Iberian Pocket Pouch back in March -- one of 3 remaining at the time. Colors in the bottom row are: Cayenne 500d, Navy Ballistic Nylon, Turquoise, Kiwi Ballistic Nylon, Olive Parapack, Linen, Cardinal Ballistic Nylon, Wasabi 500d, Conifer, and Azalea. I left out the other navies (Parapack, Cordura), and Plum, which I'm pretty sure is available as a DOP, though I haven't seen it.

Only 8 of the top row colors are DOPs that I have: I don't usually choose dark colors or dark greens, so the Forest is a Medium OP (but there are pictures of the Forest DOP in @taminca's posts, also listed in the Blog), and I know that Conifer has been available (I passed on this option so that green lovers could benefit). @icebeng got Storm and French Blue as a DOPs, @Ilkyway got DOPs in Indigo (if you read her post following my linked post to the Daylight Backpack thread where the Large Organizer Pouch in Crimson appears -- the other picture in that post showed a currently sized Large Clear Organizer Pouch in Indigo against the French Blue Daylight Backpack front zippered pocket). As far as I know, @Walker is the only one who has received a Kiwi Double Organizer Pouch as shown in this post (#115) in the Update on Backorders thread.

Both Burnt Orange and Cayenne look great with Steel. The only pouch I could get in Burnt Orange was the large size DOP. Cayenne is a great color to use, and I really like to use 500d Cordura for papers. (I have a few Large all-fabric Organizer Pouches in Cayenne.)

There have been a lot of Turquoise and Azalea DOPs available recently: all sizes from small to large. I've generally found it easiest to get Mini pouches in various colors (recently Turquoise, Storm, Indigo, and Azalea). They recently made up a new batch of pouches, so when I called in early last week to ask about the missing stabilizer strap for a Q-AM messenger strap that I ordered, I ended up ordering more pouches (Azalea, Storm, Turquoise, and Kiwi).

Also, I didn't mean to give the other blue shades short shrift in my previous post, but we have a lot of good threads comparing other colors of blue and navy, including the recent The Blues thread by @gochicken, the Which navy is darker? Navy parapack or navy ballistic? thread, etc.

I also don't mean to neglect plum and other shades of purple, but a lot of my other purple pouches (including plum) are not in the Double Organizer Pouch size, and additionally include some of the non-standard offerings that are described in posts in the ISO Utility Tote with Plum thread (under the Just for Registered Members forum, so here's an attached picture from an old blog post showing these colors):

The Mini Organizer Pouch was so popular after its debut that it sold out in just a couple of weeks. It's now back in stock and ready to ship in the usual colors (Black, Steel, Crimson, Olive, Navy, Kelly, Wasabi, Deep Blue) and also in three unusual colors: Purple Antron/Cordura, Periwinkle, and Plum Ripstop. We found small rolls of these fabrics in the TOM BIHN fabric vaults.
Antron/Cordura is a fabric that's used to make racing suits (think Nascar). The ripstop pouches are made out of 500 denier Cordura with a 1000 denier ripstop.

Clockwise: Periwinkle Ripstop, Plum Ripstop, and Purple Antron.

Having all those colors would be a godsend for people who like to color code their stuff.

Just a minor correction though, the Storm pouch in the pics I took isn't a DOP, it's a clear organizer pouch. I've tried unsuccessfully to get Storm DOPs in any sizes so far. Not going to give up, hope I don't drive the crew nuts in the process though!
