Help! Goo Gone Tragedy with my Zest Shop Bag

So yesterday I was using all my shop bags to schlep art project supplies for my students and leaked most of a bottle of Goo Gone (a household degreasing liquid) in the bottom of the bag. I've run it through the washing machine 3 times (twice with regular detergent and once with sport wash). The fabric still smells horrible (though a bit better than yesterday) and is slightly sticky to the touch. Is this a totally hopeless situation or is there a way to salvage it? Anyone out there have a similar experience? I am so sad.

I'm sorry to hear that, trailrunner!

I would avoid any further washes in a washing machine -- they are just too abrasive on the fabrics.

I would stick to a mild dish soap, like Meyers and cool water, and just let the bag soak in a clean tub or utility sink.

In terms of removing of removing odors, Mirazyme Odor Eliminator is supposed to work wonders.

Thanks for the advice, maverick -I should have checked here first! I will try soaking and Mirazyme and report back. The odor in my car (where the spillage happened) is a bit better after airing it out on the way to work.
