Lobby for pre-order Smart Alec run

Actually I thought that was a very good price for a Smart Alec in excellent condition and with both matching modular pockets. It is only $35 more than what it cost originally. After I bought my original halcyon SA, I had to wait quite a while before TB did their last batch of modular pockets in that fabric. In fact, there were several of us who were holding their breath that we would ever get the matching pockets.

I missed the announcement, so can you tell us when TB said they are doing another round of Smart Alecs? I’ve read that we can sign up in case they decide to make them in the future but didn’t know it is a sure thing. I would like to get one in Nordic before that fabric is discontinued.

No announcement yet. Just that they MIGHT do a run. Sigh.

So hubby and son went on a trip to Taiwan recently. Hubby was a walking TB ad. He had the Nordic SA on his back, slingged a Mars Red SCF, lugged a Wasabi ZTSB that had all the shopping. I should have taken a photo of him when he arrived at the airport. No, he's not the crazy TB fan. I got them all. Glad he finds them useful. SA is his favourite bag. I want another one so I can have one too. He's not giving it back!

There's one on eBay in the US right now! I think the seller is in Canada. I don't know if shipping to where you are would be practical, but it might be worth checking out.

So excited to see a possible Smart Alec limited run. I really hope it will become a reality. Darcy posted that we might need to wait -- I don't mind at all, just hope that it happens. And if it does that I would be fast enough to make it to the list

Oh man.... yesterday I was able to snag my unicorn bag, a black halycon SA. To top it off - it had an Island interior. It is truly the combination I would have chosen if I was buy direct fromTom Bihn. Yes, I had to overpay. Like in a big way. But I am not upset - I got my long wished for bag.

Count me in for one as well. Being able to fit a full face helmet in the bag makes it a killer commuter bag for me. Mine is also one of the older ones that I can't put a UMP onto. I guess I'll just keep using my current one until it completely wears out for now.

We've been reading your posts/feedback here and I'm just now getting a chance to respond!

I updated the Smart Alec page so that anyone who is interested can sign up to be notified via email if we ever decide to make another production run of Smart Alecs. That said, if we did choose to make another production run, it wouldn't be anywhere near very soon at all because our production schedule is solidly booked for the next while.

I wish I could say yes, but we're not seeing that there's quite enough interest in the Smart Alec to make it a sure bet. We *might* be able to offer it as a "if enough orders are placed, we'll make it; if not enough are placed, we won't" type of pre-order at some point. That may also be what we do if we offer the Synapse 25 Guide's Edition in the future, because it wasn't anywhere near as popular as the GE Synik 22 or GE Synik 30. On the other hand, time and resources go into even offering the Smart Alec as a "if there's enough pre-orders we'll make them" pre-order regardless of whether we end up making it, and that would be time and resources diverted from new designs that are nearly finished. That's why it's not an easy choice for us. So, that's where it's at right now. We'll continue to consider it!
