One warning about Money belts, tethered pouches and so forth.

Bad guys will watch where you keep things, so if you pull out a thick wad of money from your well tethered pouch in the bowels of your TB bag, then they may make note of it. If it looks expensive and is well hidden then it is - and it will be a target.

Keep you daily spending funds in a readily accessible but still protected wallet. That way, you'll still have easy access and the bad guys won't know that you have more than a few Euros.

Also, don't take stuff you don't really need. If you've left your car in the garage at your house and took a bus or taxi to the airport, do you really need your car keys? If somebody will be home when you get back, do you really need your house keys?
    When in trouble, obfuscate.

A money belt is never, never, never, never, never, never squared, to be brought out in public. It is deep storage. It should only be accessed when you are in a private place and no one can see.

What Frank II said. Really. I used to think that everybody knew this, but I saw a young guy in Barcelona sporting a very nice money belt outside his clothes. No joke...
