  • I've posted this elsewhere but I've only found the framesheeet to help in the S25, and there, it's more a comfort preference rather than structural support for a hip belt. If it wasn't there I wouldn't mind, I just like the flat feeling on my back more with the S25. On the S30 I really don't notice...

  • I only have an S25GE in 525d, but I don't find halcyon to be much less structured than 525d (I have 3 other in halcyon, 2xS25s, 1xS30) ... maybe slightly. I can't say how this would translate to larger bags (525d vs halcyon) but I do have many larger halcyon bags and love them, i.e., don't find the...

  • (1.) Decide how much you REALLY need to pack + your packing style
Here's my canon 6D DSLR (tenba wrap) + 3 lenses & bing-bongs ... plus size 13 shoes, AND my PCSB w/ full size headphones, two 26 mAh batteries, AND travel kit in an S30 ... with TONS of room left up top (dopp kit) and then over...

  • me too!

In general my EDC use-case is a ridiculous amount of glasses - it's funny because I've never really needed glasses but as I've gotten older my vision is just poor enough distance that I need driving glasses, and just poor enough short that if there's small print I can't have my...

Thanks for this great write-up jMac! Ultimately it convinced me to go with the LGD due to a somewhat different use-case, but that's a direct result of your detailed & thoughtful review!

    nice job!...

  • Thanks for the thoughtful review MisterJacques! Well, if it's true that all life is a stage, as you've made your exit your review has convinced me to make my debut!

Just placed an order and am looking to finally get into the world of an bits & bobs EDC man-bag ... I've resisted for...

  • For me & my body shape I don't find the framesheets useful for anything other than comfort, i.e, laying flat on my back vs. bulges & bumps - that's not to say that's not important! I *love* the S25 frame sheet, but have found the S30's less noticeable, especially with my 16" MBP in there....

  • Despite this not being the question, just FYI for anyone interested, when I hike I prefer two of the 20oz as more water & less cumbersome, and two 20oz will fit in the S25 (and I presume S30):

Maybe tangential to Chris D.'s point, one thing I love is the concept of Tom Bihn Labs for new products:

i.e., "these are products we believe people [for reasons] will like for at least one production run & available by pre-order; when & if TBL products are added to our standard...

  • Welp, I'm in on the Coyote TN45!

I really think the whole TB team has knocked it out of the park on this one!

I'll mention my love of the overhead bin security again, especially if you get a wall spot on a full size Boeing/Airbus and it fits bookshelf-style with the...

Thanks everyone, that's so nice of all of you! I had to pick between the Verde aeronaut & a coyote Techonaut ... and I went with the techonaut!

I'm REALLY REALLY REALLY hoping TB brings back Verde later this year or next year, at least limited ... I'd love a few more bags in Verde....

  • Agreed, though a lot of it comes down to travel style, use-case & personal preference.

The MW bags, for example have KILLER hide-away hip belts and straps with load-lifters & 2 sets of chest/torso straps, which is great for me as I rarely use the upper one. MW (or an ultralite...

  • Hi Darcy - question on the TN45 pre-order ... how "open" will it be in terms of stocking?

i.e., the pre-order FAQ says: "We offer a new design for pre-order for one week or until the first pre-order batch sells out."

So wondering if you expect the TN30/45s...

  • You can check out the Aeronaut 45 page for lots of pics, and while 45 can look big depending on the person, it's definitely not huge. Many people open the box and think they must've gotten the A30 by mistake ... note the A45 & TN45 are the exact same dimensions.

    a few examples of the...

  • I've also moved away from it and things like it ... and it's been thanks to TB!

When I first came to TB, I found all the pouches & clippys too fiddly and they seemed confusing and like double the work: just put all your stuff into something like the PDTP and be done! The TB method seemed...

  • I'd also LOVE a verde! and agree on the big changes ...

One TN45 change I'm hoping to both verify & experience is if a large WF/TS packing cube fits the TN45's main compartment in partition-zipped mode

If that's the case, the TN45 could be a packing-stye...

  • I have some TN 45 questions / musings in the form of pictures that I didn't see in the blog post or website, but maybe just missed - apologies if so:

(1.) First up is just a thought, which is, the A45 is nice and big - we knew that, but this is an interesting perspective on size for me...

  • In my experience, I think it'll work for most all US flights - the general rule I use is for max size when the bag is lying on its back (e.g., shoulder straps) 20"L x 10"H x 15"W ... the limiting factor for me is usually that 10" high, with 9" being for sure and 10" meaning...

LOL, feeling greedy myself! I **love** the Techonaut (Nikonaut? TechoNik? TechNik? ooo TechNik! maybe it's not too late!) ...

ANYway, I love the TechNik - dang it! - The Techonaut, and after seeing how the quick...

  • Darcy (or anyone!) maybe I missed these things in all the specs (apologies if so) but a few Qs:

(1.) What are the internal dimensions of the main & bottom pockets on each?

(2.) Do the side & QA pockets have their own space or push into the main pocket space (like on,...
