    Luggage scale recommendations

Does anyone have a portable luggage scale they like? I bought one from Balanzza and was very disappointed in the quality. It lasted less than 6 months, which amounted to about six trips and in that short time, I had to replace the batteries. They have a 'warranty' which requires that you send the scale back, insured, with a check for $7. I'd like to get another scale, but will steer clear of this brand. Thanks for any recommendations.

I have a Dunheger. It hasn't been "field tested" yet. So far I have just used it on test loads of the Aeronaut. I can't speak to durability, but it has been working well so far.

Was this the Balanzza model that Wirecutter recommended?

I don't think there's a clear recommendation, based on a quick scan of previous threads (that included people who used the Balanzza scale). If you want a quick overview of some earlier discussions (mostly with people stating what didn't work), there was some discussion at the end of the Locks thread. At the time, @Frank II said he was using the Travelon Micro Scale, but he later started a new Travel Scales thread to ask for alternatives. And by the way, I loved his earlier recommendations of ways to estimate weight if you don't have a travel scale easily to hand.

No, the one I had used the coin-type batteries. I had to replace them 3 months after purchasing the scale and I removed them from the unit when not in use.

I'm going to check out ways to estimate weight if you don't have a scale available. Thanks for directing me to the other threads.

Thank you--I will check out your scale.
