Exclamation Labor Practices of Big Name Outdoor Clothing Brands

I thought this was pretty interesting on many levels as I buy from a lot of these brands ... for example, I guess I missed that Outdoor Research (OR) is now owned by a Korean textile assembly factory operator!

Very interesting! I toured the Outdoor Research factory in Seattle several years ago, as they do produce a line of made in USA products for military and other contracts. It was fascinating to see different products and how many things are made.

I was also surprised by how many outdoors gear or clothing companies are based in Washington State: REI, Cascade Designs, Eddie Bauer, Outdoor Research, Sherpa, Seattle Sports, Nuun, Rite in the Rain, Liberty Bottleworks, Miir, Nuun, Filson, Feathered Friends, Kavu, and Swift Industries to name a few.

My guess is that Tom Bihn likely has one of the highest concentrations of people with sewing skills in the area.

Wow interesting, especially re Tom Bihn!

As for OR - Grr, i just wish I hadn't found out that OR is primarily owned by a Korean factory operator, especially one with worker's rights complaints ...
