They're quite the handsome pair! Your dogs are similar in age to mine (Ichiro is about 11... okay, he's probably at least 12 now, but I'd prefer to think he's 11... and Fiona is 7 months). Did you get Rocky as a pup? Based on the photo, they seem like they get along well, but was there an adjustment period? I think Ichiro fully recognized Fiona as a dog he could play with and team up with when she was five months old..... they get along well, but he still grumbles when she gives him face kisses.
Darcy: Thank you! Yes, we got Rock as a pup and Jack almost immediately tried to kill him (at least it seemed that way to me). It shocked me bc Jack is super easy going. After that initial encounter, they were fine. Rocky still annoys Jack constantly by cuddling too much or punching him too much. Big difference in energy levels. I'm pretty concerned about how he'll handle it when Jack passes.

Here's a funny picture of baby Rocky stealing Jack's bed. SO sad:

Update! Nik noticed that Marcus had really bonded with Jade, one of the other kittens that we're fostering:

And Fiona (who is so good about gently playing with the kittens) agreed that two kittens are better than one:

So...... we're adopting both Marcus and Jade!

I'm concerned about the same with Ichiro and Fiona. Fiona basically thinks the sun rises and sets on Ichiro (but I do too.)

Thankfully, the other kitten already has a great home lined up. Smilie

    OMG, what cuteness!
I agree that they are often happier in pairs.
@Darcy, what is that piece of furniture they are sitting on? Is it something designed for cats?

It is -- it's a cat tree, the "Lotus Cat Tower".

This would be Cooper - Chinese Shar Pei now 7 years old. He travels everywhere with us by car - so far Ontario and Quebec. Our previous dog made it all the way to the East Coast.

Here's my service dog, a 3 year old labernese. He's not really a pet. He is a loving and well loved working dog. He's my friend, my helper and constant companion.

I put the Citizen Canine (old style) around his neck just to show dog and bag together Smilie He was very good and didn't try to stick his nose in the pouch, despite the fact there was his favourite treat: dried bison liver.

He helps pulling my wheelchair and pick things off the ground. He comes with me everywhere I go. He's travelled by plane from Montreal to Minneapolis and to New York City. By car all over Quebec and New York State.

I've written a bit more about service dogs on my site, if you're interested: I am not cruel to my service dog - Part of a Whole

    @Darcy, @kathryn, and Others,

I'm reasonably sure that when I "liked" this picture of Beatrice with her Skookum Dog Bat about a month ago, that there were still some Bats available. When did the bat get retired? (I know we have a slew of new debut items, but when I was browsing through the Accessories product pages I suddenly saw the words "Retired Product".

I'm sure there was interest in the Bat when Fiona and the other puppies were featured playing with it. For other pictures, see, for example, the Skookum Dog Bat? thread. Just glad that I got one of these before they disappeared.

Meet Phil. Adopted from our local Animal Humane Society yesterday afternoon. Australian Shepherd/ Poodle Mix. Not quite a year old.

In the photo he is anticipating me throwing the ball for about the 100th time this morning.

Pancho catching some big air at Snow Lake

My wife and I took Pancho (our almost 2 year old Lab) to Snow Lake last week. It is a beautiful spot in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness about an hour east of Seattle. Pancho is an avid swimmer, but not really a jumper. Apparently he was moved by the beauty of Snow Lake and the sheer joy of the moment as my wife told me to get ready with my camera and then tossed a stick. As you can see in the second photo, 85 pounds of dog goes deep and throws up quite a wake.
