You all know these guys, but here they are again.

    Titus, begging pathetically for crackers.

Hector, with the crazy in his eyes.

We got Gryphon from the pound in Cheyenne, WY last year. In that time he's become quite the world traveler. Fun little guy.

grasshoppers, crickets, moths, beetles & roaches are what that species would eat in the wild.

My Finnegan (the beautiful but evil cat) sleeps with me. Does Renton sleep with you?

Love this thread by the way

So, my little buddy Oliver and I have been going to boot camp pretty regularly. Last night Oliver was awarded the AKC Canine Good Citizen certificate. We still have some work to do (Oliver needs to figure out I'm more fun than chipmunks) but it was a really great first step.

I really like him as a pet, but if he were to escape from his cage and try to cuddle up while I was fast asleep I can't guarantee that I wouldn't scream like a 5 year old girl and fling him across the room!

Does Renton spin a web? I've never known anyone who's owned a spider as a pet (thought I know it's not that uncommon). Does Renton "know" who you are? I'm full of spider questions!

I can only guarantee I would scream like a five year old girl and fling him across the room. Sorry Renton, it just is what it is.

He produces silk, he just lays it on the ground rather than in the air, he is definitely more comfortable around me than with others, I'm not sure if it is because he recognizes me or because I am more deliberate in handling him.

    Some other fun tarantula facts:

They are closely related to crabs.
Tarantulas can live past 30 years old.
They shed their exoskeletons leaving a molt that looks very much like a tarantula.
If they lose a limb it will regenerate with their next molt.
Tarantulas move via hydraulic pressure, their heart acts as a hydraulic pump and a series of valves open up to move their legs.
Their first line of defense are their urticating hairs on their backsides which they fling off with their back legs.
The "itching powder" that used to be sold was actually the urticating hairs from tarantulas.
Their bite is no worse than a bee sting.
