Small Yeoman Duffle as personal item for United Basic Economy?

Has anyone tried using the small yeoman Duffle as a personal item on a United Basic Economy flight (i.e., no use of overhead bins)? The length is technically 2" longer than they allow, but it usually fits under an airline seat with no problem.

It would depend on what you put it it. Since the Yeoman is infinitely squashable, as long as the contents fit the correct size, the bag should pass the bag sizer test.

My neighbor took my Small Yeoman on Frontier as a personal item. Their allowance is a little different, but like you said it fits under an airline seat so should be no problem. If it's your only bag I doubt they'd size check it since it looks so tiny.
