What to do in Kingston, Ontario, Canada
Hello Group,
Anyone familiar with this area? My partner will be a visiting scholar at Queen's University for two weeks in June and I'll join her for a week. Anything we should hit up while we're there? All I know is our hotel will overlook the lake. Not sure yet if we'll have a car.

The best part of Kingston is entirely walkable. Your hotel is within easy walking distance of the entire historic area of Kingston including the University. It is a lovely place to wander. There are several historic houses that are open to the public including Bellevue house, once the home of Canada's first Prime Minister, Sir John a MacDonald. I would highly recommend finding someone to take you on a walking tour. Failing that there are several self guided walking tours starting from City Hall.
Kingston has a large fort and several smaller Martello towers built to defend the mouth of the St Lawrence River from evil American attacks during the War of 1812. The Forts never actually saw action. Kingston is a charming historic city and I envy you your visit.
There is a ferry that goes over to Wolfe Island. A nice ride on an early summer's day.
