    TriStar.. Underway

Thought I'd post a couple of pics of my TriStar.. we were preparing to depart the dock for a trip down the Intracoastal Waterway from Port Allen La. to Morgan City La. Final stop will be Calcasieu River, below Lake Charles La.

Our boat is 65 foot Survey Vessel.. very cozy.

Love the pics! I couldn't picture a 65 foot survey vessel when you mentioned it in the other thread. Looks like you have some great scenery to look at while you work. :-) Thanks for sharing.

This morning we started final leg to Calcasieu La.
Departed Morgan City, La at 0700L.
Morgan City is a terrific place to photograph Bald Eagles.. they're numerous. I didn't get any shots of them, mainly due to a poor vantage point and lack of a good enough camera.

Here's a couple of shots leaving Morgan City.
The bridges in the background connect Berwick (left side) to Morgan City.

    Yay! Pics of Morgan City!

In the first photo, that's Mr. Charlie on the right. It's an actual oil rig that is used as a museum and for training. And just left of center is an orange-red spot - that's the Southwest Reef Lighthouse. It was an offshore lighthouse positioned near the mouth of the Atchafalaya River. The town of Berwick bought it when it was decommissioned and it is now a tourist site. They even have a lighthouse festival in October.

But the biggest deal in Morgan City is the Shrimp and Petroleum Festival over Labor Day weekend. Now that's a good time, cha! :)

And one more bit of info - the movie "Thunder Bay" with Jimmy Stewart was filmed in Berwick and Morgan City.

I thought about getting a better pic of Mr. Charlie, but our position wasn't very good.

    Good info:)

End of Leg 2, arrive at Calcasieu Lock

Made it in before dark.. we arrived at the Corps of Engineers facility at Calcasieu Lock. Tied up, secured the vessel and headed out to town for dinner.

Here's a couple of final pics...

    Entering the Lock at Calcasieu.
Pic of the galley area with my TB TS on the deck.
Crossed paths with another Corps of Engineer tug boat.
Final pic is a shot of our boat.

Hope you guys enjoyed the little glimpse of my week.

These pictures made me so happy! They remind me of summers on the Mississippi and a wonderful night spent in my own room on a boat anchored in Stockholm. Thank you for sharing!
